In the off season (if there ever is one on the East Coast... lol) i am an avid whitetwater kayaker, so helmets are basically mandatory in that sport if you want to live. I was just wondering if plastic ski helmets do very much if you hit a rock in the pow. For kayaking i wear a Sweat Protection carbon fiber helmet that spreads out the impact when you hit a rock (which i have done many times), but for skiing i just wear a Giro helmet with a thin layer of plastic and some foam that in kayaking would probably shatter if i hit a rock. So my question is How much does a basic plastic ski helmet do if you hit your head on rocks, a rail or on a really big jump?
