Mad River Glen is the ultimate toned down area. ^ He's incredibly correct. Most of the mountain is not covered by snowmaking, so its all up to naturaly snow. But when it dumps, Mad River is awesome. Great terrain, a rockin mountain. Jay Peak is also less developed than the likes of Stowe and Killington, but its more built up than Mad River. They get a lot of snow up there, and great terrain and glades. Theres a few sheaper smaller areas down in Southern Vermont, but they don't get the snow that Central/Northern VT gets.

i heard that Magic is a pretty good mountain in southern/central VT. One of the steepest mountains and some awesome glades. Only probably with the small ones are the long, slow lifts in the freezing cold.

Magic mtn has amazing terrain, very challenging and not very many crowds. But be warned of there lack of snowmaking and faulty lifts. Go on a powder day and you will be satisfied

i was at sugarbush from wed. to sunday, there park is not too amazing, 3 jumps, some rails if ur into that, pretty good lifts, but lots of patches, they have a lot of shitty runouts everywhere so u have to ski walk a lot, its big for me ok terrain mostly moguls and beg. slopes. its fun for a couple days but i got bored of moguls and bumps after a while. can be icy we stayed in burlington also 1 hour drive, not bad i would of gone to jay but i heard was farther, good luck

Yea, you don't go to Mad River for park, thats all about good snow and awesome glades. Jay will have a park, but a friend who came back from there yesterday said it wasnt up yet.

I live in Middlesex VT which is like 20 min from sugarbush, so its my home mountain. Yea, I have to admit, this year the park is kinda shitty. You start on a start box, then there is like 7-9 rails. You come down onto a roller, and then you can hit a hit to the sie or gap it. After that theres a set of 3 kickers, small, med, and a semi big, and after those 3 3 more which are bigger than the first three. Yea, theres a lot blue and green trails, but there are some steep glades at south, and you can take a chair over there from north. an 8 min ride to so more riding. Sugarbush has 4 peaks, 17 lifts, and a 117 trails total. Its a pretty good mtn. Good luck picking.
Piss on tits, piss on piss, and piss on this. PEACE OUT

if you are going to be in burlington then you don't want to be driving all over creation to go skiing...Jay is like 90 min. when the roads are decent. Smuggs is not too bad...more like 50 mintues. The terrain there is pretty sweet but the lift system is very slow. Stowe is like a hour and Sugarbash is over an hour...Burlington is great place to live though...the people up there are very cool and the whole vibe is mellow...
