If you want to make good beats, NEVER (some exceptions with drums) use stock sounds. You can craft synths with effects, etc. but I wouldn't touch anything that comes with it.
Regardless, right click the instrument after you drag it to the sequencer and click "piano roll". If that doesn't work, check the pitch range (by left-clicking the instrument in the sequencer), should be at the very bottom.
Seriously. If you have fruity loops. Tell me if your Mandoynn_B2 will play more than one note. I am able to change the pitch, but it will only be one pitch in the whole piano roll. So if I need more than one note from the Mandolin, I have to make a new channel with a newly pitched mandolin. understand?
