they used to be my favorite..when they had the mark messier,adam graves,brian leetch line...they had such a great team then...i remember them playing the winnipeg jets on tv and they scored 6 goals in the first period i think it was..one right after the other

Detroit-best players in the league, many of them canadian. Colorado same story. Toronto has some awesome players as well, and are at teh top right now. Ottawa doesnt have very many good players, they have the 3rd most goals for in the league, and none of them are on the top 10 scoring, reason, because they are a good team. the only reason why New jersey won the stanley cup was because of brodeur.
Lalime is an excellent goaltender, but v. inconsistent, whereas prusek is just damn good. .950 in last 6 games say WHAT.
So far all canadian teams except edmonton are in playoff positions. Toronto is tied at number 1, Vancouver at #4, Ottawa tied at #5 with calgary(the last time i checked).

detroit also has 3 more wins than toronto...
toronto is 7 points ahead of ottawa, but ottawa has 3 games in hand. they also play eachother tomorrow (and toronto wont have sundin).
and ottawa has alfie and hossa who are killing it right now, dont think that they dont have any good players.

i meant that they are a better team, not good individual players.(with the exception of the 4th line, with varada gone, and havlat on suspension). Alfredsson is really good, but with White he is insane. Same with Spezza and hossa, and bonk with vermette.

Detroit has experience, and for such old guys they sure skate well. I can't believe they're at the top of the league without either of their goalies and Derian Hatcher, probably their best defensive dman.

make that hatcher and federov. But personally, i dont think they are a great defensive team. They rely on their goalies too much, not for shots, but chances.
