that's absolutely absurd, people on here know how it feels to be truly cold, now imagine this man, who was probably suffering from mild dementia and possibly early Alzheimer's, forgetting how and when to pay his electric bill, freezing to death in his own home.

I am a prick I'll admit it, but only when it comes to death. Losing both your brothers before 30 will do that to ya. It's something i'm working on though, I'm sure the guy was great and people will miss him. Really though dude was old and obviously lost his wits, this leads to bad decisions and death. If he was some darwin award nominee due to stupidity we'd all be chuckling, but no this is cereal for sure.


I was just making a light hearted joke that in CO they actually have a holiday in nederland (sp?) that celebrates an old fellas death. Some old guy freezes in a shed and they all rally around it every year.

Indeed, I think it was just a misunderstanding. PA has a point though, the man must have thought that he could tough it out - I mean, if your heat gets turned off why not go to a son's/daughter's house, or a hotel, or a nursing home or something? Sad situation.
