Why do NS "journalists" insist on using this cliche ALL THE FUCKING TIME?
It was used approximately 6 years to describe Matt Harvey when he left his position at this website. Fine. It was mildly amusing then, and perhaps fitting to describe Harvey. But why does Schmuck insist on using it in seemingly most of his pieces? I appreciate the coverage that NS offers, but I think that if you look at the quality of writing offered by other action sports websites, NS is somewhat lacking.
Sorry to go on a little rant here, but this has been bothering me for a while. Again, let me reiterate, I appreciate the coverage NS offers, generally speaking. What I would like to see is writing of a better quality. This isn't a site run in someone's basement by a few unpaid diehards; it's owned by Transworld Media, and guys like Schmuk have paid positions and earn a living doing this. I've always felt that newschoolers.com could bring a little more professionalism to the table, and i'm happy to state my opinion. Maybe NS remains popular because of its non-polished attitude about some things. It appeals to a certain audience. That's not my place to judge.I'm just stating my impression based on my experience as a member for the last 6 or so years.
