So I have the first 2 pages of a 15 page author project on John Steinbeck due tomorrow. Really the biggest thing I need for the paper is a solid thesis. I've written countless essays, so I don't really need any pointers on regular thesis writing. My main issue is that my teacher has failed to give us a real rubric on the actual paper. I don't really know how I plan on organizing or formulating my introduction.
The three books that I plan on using to form my actual essay are Travels with Charley, Of Mice and Men, and the Grapes of Wrath.
My teacher has also failed to help us create a thesis, therefor I'm already pretty stuck.
I plan on using Steinbeck's perspective of American society as a reflection of his own life. Travels with Charley was Steinbeck's own account of America seen through his own eyes. Of Mice of Men was about the failure of the american dream (either of an individual, or societal, either way its just my opinion.) And The Grapes of Wrath could be various things, although I'd like to incorporate the idea of a single soul as a society into the thesis.
Anyways, I'm just not the most organized individual, so any pointers on how to start this paper would be gladly appreciated.
++K!
