Going to New York...what should I do?

Hey, so I just booked a trip to NY - I am from the UK so all you east coast folks, how should I spend my 7 days?
I am going with the mrs who is having her 21st out there so it should be pretty sick. + Karma for good advice,
a parcel full of shit for anyone who says full tilt.

go to the village and check out all the jazz clubs. you could see some wicked sick jazz that you could only  get in new york. the blue note is a really good one.

if you want to ski they have a shuttle service from Port Authority to Mountain Creek

other than that you should just do tourist stuff, check out the meat packing district for a bunch of bars/clubs that are trendy without being super exclusive.

See a show, although the euro is kicking the dollars ass, i dont suggest shopping too much, stuff is soooooo expensive. Go to madison square garden. Get lost. See a concert. travel by subway if you can, its an experience. Go to time square, walk around central park. GO TO CHINA TOWN

Definitely go to little italy for dinner one night... best italian food I have ever had... obviously i haven't been to "Big" Italy, but I am this Spring Break!!

i find the tourist stuff to be one of the worst parts of the city, try to go to museums, sounds lame but they're pretty impressive
go to lots of restaurants and eat good food especially sushi

if ur hittin nyc hit me up there are mad fun spots that arent touristy but u can meet maddddd cool people. as for above, museums are cool on the right days, mad galleries in chelsea are cooler if ur not down with crowds, 21st bday can be an endless celebration depending where u go haha but fo sure get ur trip dates and ideas in here so we can convince u to do otherwise

Thanks for all the advice guys! The hooker stuff might have to wait as I am not sure how happy my bird will be about it all!

I am not going until 30th of June for 7 nights so might have to forget about the urban skiing and hitting any sort of mountain!

So yeh there is plenty of time to come up with some good ideas, so far we are thinking:

Standard tourist things (statue of liberty, empire state, Guggenheim (sp?) Macy's and Bloomingdales etc)
We want to go see a show, possibly Chicago or if you guys have any recommendations?
Keep the advice coming more + Karma!!

Yeah deff. check out the empire state building. TONS of museams/art galleries to look at.
And I'm sure your wife will want to check out some of the many designer shops there so...( I had to deal with that all day when i took a trip to NYC with my mom and my sister, while my dad and i just waited, lol)

well you def gotta go out to eat at super nice resteraunts soo many good ones the best food iv ever eaten always in nyc u could hit up like statue of liberty, museums, etc shit like that but since ur gf is 21 u will have a great time at night if u no what to do

for a show you should definitely see 'fuerza bruta' its really good and kind of trippy. definately check out SoHo, there are lots of shops and after your done there make your way down a few blocks to canal st. that is a scene to be appreciated by anyone. also galleries in chelsea is a good idea if you're in to art...

maybe its just because my ex girlfriend lives there but I fucking hate Chinatown. Its a great experience if you like being trapped in a crowd of slow-moving and annoying tourists.

Alright, you obviously like Chinese food - you cannot get chinese food as good as NYC, trust me

So go to china town and navigate your way to Mott Street. 17 Mott Street is the address, the place is called Wo Hop. There are two near each other (no idea why) but they are different, you going to want to go to the one that is downstairs. IT'S A SHITHOLE, DON'T LET THAT SCARE YOU AWAY. most likely there will be a line if its friday/sat/sun, but its worth the wait. Make sure you get the Wanton/Egg drop soup and get chow fun, those are their specialties, and they are amazing. Get what ever else you like, everything is good. Make sure you bring cash, they dont take credit cards (they make sooo much more money that way)

Your going to have to trust me on this one, its not going to look apealing, but it is the best food out there. My parents used to go all the time when they were in college. Whenever we go now and there is a line, its always people who used to go in college, or people that have been going for years. no one just stumbles on to this place, they know it already. Also, lots of cops go there too to get food, they (used to be actually, now they close for 2 hours) are open for 24 hours.

Just trust me on this one, you need to go to get food here if you go to china town (which you must). Sometimes when were in the city, i get my parents to stop by there just to get pickup when we dont have time to sit down.

You deff have to hit up canal street. If you are going to broadway, i heard that Wicked is very good. For food, Mike's Deli has the best Italian food.. especially eggplant.. it's over in the Bronx on Arthur Ave.

definatley, and central park, times square, try and got on the today show by screaming something really loud or something retarded like that, nyc in the winter is a BITCH tho, bring warm clothes, it tends to get windy and frigid down there

you gotta devote at least 1 evening to times square. Its a sight to see when its getting dark there. Wander around, get some dinner and just...enjoy the atmosphere.

I don't know if anyone has said it, but go visit ground zero (if they still call it that) its really just a big construction site now, but its still somewhat shocking to stand there and just think about what happened there. And i think its battery park (i'm not from nyc so i dunno) that is near where the statue of liberty ferries leave, there's a damaged globe sculpture that was at the base of the wtc
