Pop, Huck, Tuck.
DO NOT CLOSE YOUR EYES. YOull be straight.
i want to try cause my fiend says hes gonna teach me but i dont know how
haha whaaaat? front flips are blind my friend. try spotting your landing on a front flip, its not so easy.
however, on backflips once your upside down you know exactly where you are so you can continue flipping as much as you need to.
my first backflip was last year on this baby jump in powder on arv's, i didnt wanna break my neck so i rotated very fast, i over rotated and landed flat on my back, didnt hurt at all, it took a while to get the timing down but i suggest watching your feet, once your boots are about 2 feet from the lip then pop and huck. many people try to pop way too early and they dont get nearly as much air as they could.
good luck man, it all takes practice. i used to over rotate on baby jumps when on my arv's but now i can stomp them off 50 foot bc jumps on my arg's. they're real fun.
its all about feeling the jump and being super-comfortable in the air that day. Take a bunch of runs on that jump your gunna do it on and get all your tricks and just feel so good in the air. Know how much speed you need, what the lip is like, how far you need to go, and what the landing is like. Once your comfortable in the air and on that jump, just go for it.
Its not a complex trick at all. Just throwback with your arms, push your hips up to the sky, look upside down, bring your knees up early. And it'll be fine.
Think about how it will feel to do one. Think about what you will be seeing as you do the flip.
Don't think about messing it up because its just too hard to mess up. Make sure you spin it fast, better to land on your back overrotating than landing on your head.
Its a weird feeling to be upside down in the air.
And you should probably be good at spinning already, at least know how to do 5s.
Just threw my first one this afternoon and it was one of the best moments of skiing for me. I scoped the jump alot, got the encouragement I needed, the park was soft, and I was skiing well, so I just went for it. Carried in plenty of speed, tucked back, and stomped it. I saw sky, sky, blue sky and then all of sudden, white. What a feeling though! I was speechless for a bit at the bottom, then got a big buzz for the next hour. Who needs drugs when you've got skiing? Seriously, natural high, it feels better. Footage coming soon. Anyone else go to 7th heaven for their first backie or big new trick?
