my gripe about Alta is that everyone there is so fucking good. the pow was skied off way to fast.

I like snowbird better but thats just because when i was there a few years ago they got like 60" in a week, sickest conditions of my life especially cuz i was probably barely 60" tall at the time...

why would i even consider giving my vote to Alta if they are so stubborn to open there mind for like 2 seconds to consider letting me go to their resort because i only have one plank on my feet instead of two?

the reason they made the rule i think is because some skiers dont like snowboarders(stupid) and they loose buisnnes by letting in snowboarders. but dont judge alta just cause of one rule

that ONE rule makes it very easy to compare it to Snowbird that will actually let me in.

why wouldn't I say I like snowbird better than a resort that discriminates my sport.

Example.
asking a black person if he likes a Burger King that won't even let him through the door or McDonalds that will serve him the same burgers. why would he prefer a fast food place he can actually eat?

A lot of the good terrain in Alta wouldn't be very accessible for snowboarders. both resorts are insane though

Alta always gets twice as much snow as the bird, and its usaully more sunny. Everyone should go to Alta, most times your tracks fill every run.

for the record most of my friends snowboard. but it was cool to have a ski area like Alta..... such a hard core skiing atmosphere... no gaper snowboarders littering all the runs setting on their asses... heaven. likewise at the top of the lifts you dont have to weave your way through a maze of people to make it down the hill.... basically alta kicks ass and one day i will call it my home mtn.. (claim?:)

Bad analogy - you were not born with a snowboard on your feet. Its more like playing frisbee golf at TPC Sawgrass.

I snowboard. I don't think the discrimination is cool. But if you own the place, it is perfectly within your rights to define your resort around whatever parameters you want.

which can be both good and bad.

there is a lot of "altaitude" that can occasionally be really unappealing there.

They are both great mountains and get great snow, so hard to really go wrong.

Snowboarders wouldnt want to go to alta, you have to traverse SO much when skiing there, snowboarders would get pissed off.

thats what i try to explain to all my snowboarder friends but they just say "Alta is gay".

Alta rules and so does Snowbird.... i dont know if i ca choose between them. I would say Alta has more gnarly terrain for sure. But Snowbird's lifts are faster.

Alta closes earlier in the season because of an endangered species of mouse or something, snowbird's usually opened till late June and even sometimes the 4th of July.

I've been to snowbird but not alta. I like snowbird a lot, they're park is off way to the side and has a chair lift just for the park. Park is pretty chill too.

alta doesn't have as much money to keep the lifts running at the end of the season. its mostly passholders who ski then, so they don't make money, but instead lose it running the lifts.
but yea, snowbird is definitely open later in the season

alta has enough money and they would keep their lifts open longer but the ski resort itself is on national forest lands so it has to close earlier, snowbird is open later because snowbird owns all of its land
