man i just found it and it was soooso good...

and it seems so like...obscure. like i have never seen a commercial or anything or it in the movie store....

so if you like wes anderson movies...find it. its so worth it.

i didnt like life aquatic as much as darjeeling....just an opinion though.

and i dont think they're too similar either. just the shots and the lighting he uses. i really enjoy it...

i love wes anderson movies but i thought darjeeling limited fell a little flat. I feel like he could have done a lot more with the premise he set up for himself? maybe? i donno, it was still a good movie but i think his other ones are better.

  Loved it.  I still have a soft spot for Rushmore.  Say what you will about Wes, but he is one of a select few directors whose style is instantly recognizable in any given scene.  Plus, he hands down selects the best soundtracks.

oh shit i better not say i didn't like the darjeeling limited or ill get a dozen hipster kids in here saying that i would like it if i understood what wes meant. 

fuck offffffffffffffff.

protip: watch hotel chevalier which is sort of a short film prequel to the darjeeling so it will help you understand what the ending and why portman was in that one scene.

  Just because you can point out pretentiousness, doesn't mean that you yourself aren't pretentious.

  Nothing is more hipster than hating on something that other people like. 

  Not to mention, who cares what "wes meant"?  The movie just looks and sounds good.

  I'm not sure why you're being an asshole seeing as how your first post was condescending and abrasive, but I'll pretend we're just having a discussion.

  I don't like any two films, songs, paintings, poems, etc. for the same reasons.  Not every well made (my definition of "good") film is notable because it has some sort of heavy handed symbolism, or because it satirizes consumer culture, or any other "statement".  Sometimes a film is "good" because the cinematography, editing, score, pacing, etc. come together in an amazing way.  So yes, in this case, I like this movie for "vain" reasons.  I also like the characters, humor, and the way I felt while watching it.

  If you're going to take the condescending film buff role in this thread, you should at least recognize that judging a film simply based on it's plot, narrative structure, or "what it means" is about as vain as it gets.
