This is a group promoting Ted Shred's plan to build a water ramp park in Denver. There are many revolutionary ideas which will make Huck & Splash, the best splash pool anywhere. For example this will be the first water ramp facility to duplicate the feel of park jumps. It will be made with the snowflex technology, so you can carve off; even switch.
There are plenty of water ramps around the country, so why do we need another one? All of the other facilities have been able to create a tranny and lip similar to a terrain park jump, but none of them have been able to duplicate the landing angle. If you've ever tried doing a flip off of a 3 meter diving board and came up short or went too far around, you would know that it hurts. Part of that is because the pool probably doesn't have a bubbler system, but the other reason is because you are hitting the water almost vertically. The steeper you go in the harder the landing and the same thing applies to snow.
The pool at Huck & Splash will be elevated above the ground. The largest jumps will have a tranny that drops in excess of 10 feet below the level of the water. That way we can launch you 80 to 120 feet out into the bubbled pool and you will still be hitting the water at about 30 to 35 degrees.
My goal is to make it so your worst wetcat wreck off the biggest ramp we have won't hurt at all. You can try anything that you can dream up, without worrying about trashing yourself. The pros will be there because it will be the best place for them to learn new stuff too. All the new tricks you will be seeing at future Winter X Games will go down at Huck & Splash first.
In addition to park step downs, we want to have step ups, cliff drops, canon style launch boxes, and even a feature that has about 10 to 15 mogul turns into a freestyle mogul kicker. That will give the Colorado USSA and FIS mogul competitors a huge advantage over everyone else.
The place will be wheel chair friendly so guys like Felix Snow and K-J Vander Klooster can learn how to misty their mono skis. How cool would that be?
Huck and Splash is also going to be built to be a multimedia Mecca. Every jump will have multiple cameras tied into a TIVO system. You will be able to hop out of the pool and immediately check out your last effort from 3 or 4 different perspectives. We will have tunes going, and the whole thing will be like having an expression session with your buds. It's going to be like uploading yourself into an action video game.
It would be great to have your support to really kick this into full gear. Right now we want to be able to show the hosting Rec District how stoked people are to have something like this in their back yard. We are also trying to get foundations to assist in grant funding for the facility. The foundations would be organizations that promote outdoor activity, clean lifestyles, and outreach to underprivileged youth. They could also be foundations or groups whose mission is to combat childhood obesity. Other possible types of charitable organizations could be groups who assist in providing funding for activities for children and adults with physical or mental disabilities. If you are reading this and you have contacts with anyone who has pull with these types of foundations, please get in touch with us.
