Mounting, Arggg.

So i just got a pair of griffons mounted on my chronics and i specifically called before getting them done and i asked for -2cm from CENTER.  The dumbass owner at the shop mounted them -2 from recommended.  Now the skis are totally thrown off for park. What should i do about this?  i know some of you have definitely had this problem.  do you think they would replace the skis, or just remount them forward (that would be the third mount).

and just to be sure, when i ask for -2cm from center, that means measuring the ski from tip to tail and taking the center and putting the midsole 2cm behind that mark, correct?

You might as well tell them what they did wrong, and draw a line where you want them to mount.

so thats now an extra set of holes in my skis?
would it be appropriate to bitch and request for compensations,
because theres basically no resale value now.

there you go, just another argument to throw back at the shop. i doubt theyll credit you towards another pair of skis, unless you purchased the chronics from them, but theyll help you out if you dont take no for an answer.

most older people arent familiar with our terms of center. They think center to be the line on the ski, you really should have made a mark of the ski

i was giving the guy the benefit of the doubt.  i called in before he mounted because i forgot to give him directions when i dropped them off.  This guy should have known, since he is the owner of the store and sells many twins.  his employees ski park too and hes not that old.

You can't assume shit like that. Put a piece of tape on the ski marked "MOUNT HERE." If they fuck up then, bitch.

this happened to my arvs. i told them -4 from true center and drew the line and they center mounted them. its perfect for park but now i just have to lean wayyyy back in pow.

Try this > both the toe and heel of the Griffon use 4 screws / holes. Go back to the shop and see if they can reuse one set of holes on the toe and one set of holes on the heel. This way you have less holes in the ski. They should do all of this for free. They ought to glue and plug the old holes.

Example :  use the front ski holes for the rear screws of the toepiece - see if it comes close to being -2 from true center. It may be close . Otherwise consider asking for a new ski. It has been compromised.  Good luck. The heel screws are further apart so they may not work.

 I was in your situation at the beginning of this year... But I had brand new skis.. I bitched for about a half hour and didn't agree with any of their ideas for compensating me on the skis till I basically told them that I  needed new skis out of the deal.   They gave me new skis and everything is cool... SO it is possible to get new skis out of the deal.  just be nice at first but make a scene if its necessary... good luck

i talked to a shop tech the other day and we very clearly agreed on where to mount...  i'd flip out if i get them back tomorrow and they're wrong.

I bought my invaders from this ski shop somewhat local from me, and brought them to my local shop to get my bindings mounted, and they mounted them +2 which is totaly off, and they took 50% off the cost of the bindings and free mounting because i now have two holes that cannot be seen. I would try and get some money back or even to try and replace the ski's. Its there fault and they should pay for there mistake. Hope everything works out!
