Replying to minidisk problem

so yea i got a minidisk player for christmas, and every time i upload music onto it, it drains the batery and shuts off. i put brand new bateries into it, then made a disk off my puter, then tried to make an other one, and it said low battery, and shut off. yep. so after three days, i have gone through 2 bateries... and they are like the energizer max long lived things too... is this normal? should it be getting power from my usb or something? it doesn't have an ac adapter outlet. so yea.... is this how its suposed to be?
