Suspects are broken ---- Need new ski suggestions

Well, my suspects are done after less than 20 days and Salomon was so accommodating with me. I will definietely buy from them again!

HA. Anyways, I am buying some new skis of Backcountry asap. I'm getting a pure park ski in and around 180cm. My one criteria is that these things have to be fucking beasts. I can't have another ski breaking on me this season. What is the most bombproof (tested and prooven) park ski? AR6? Wall? Rossi's?

i have never even heard of issues with the high end rossignol park skis. i have put 110+ days on my 06 rossignol scratch fs and they're holding up incredibly. no topsheet chipping, no edge cracks, no de-lamination, no decambering, and they pop like new. the edges are filed down though from 110 days of park, but any other ski would have cracked,  torn out, or no edges  by now.

moral of the story: rossignol skis are absolutely bomb-proof,

you really can't go wrong, and if something would happen (nuclear attack) and the skis do get damaged they are covered for 1 year by themselves and 2 years if they have rossi bindings on them.

Yea I was leaning towards Rossi's as well....I still have my old school Scratch's from like 2004 and they have no damage at all. Thanks for the suggestion.

Anyone else?

I had those skis for a few years too, but also take a look at the AR6.  I still have a pair of 05 AR5s that are still one hell of a lot of fun.  3 seasons on them and nothing more than 1 edge crack under foot.

you do know that back country.com is owned by the same corporation that runs qvc and some other crap.  go support your local shop that employs actual skiers.  or better yet, check out www.evolutionfreeride.com

oh, and to answer your question, if you're looking for a durable, bombproof ski, grab a pair of line chronics or k2 extremes.  the chronic is poppy but stiff enough to remain lively, and from the people i know that have ridden the chronics, they have a relatively long life span.  if you are having problems with edges falling out from rails, the extreme has a urethane (soft) sidewall in the rail sliding region that will absorb more impact than an abs sidewall and reduce stress cracks.

i have owned/still use:

Dynastar Trouble Maker 03/04  - Just starting out doing freestyle, so i didn't really treat them harshly, but no problems

Line Chronic 04/05 - abused for 5 seasons, absolutely no problems, HOWEVER, now Line skis are made in a K2 factory and they use sawdust cores and shit, so they are less durable etc.  I would definitely suggest chronics as a solid fun ski anyway, though.

Rossi Scratch FS 05/06 - this is my telemark set up.  i haven't had any problems yet.  what i can tell you though, is that these skis are def not as fun as chronics or walls.

Volkl Wall 08 - i've heard that the 09 version is more durable, but i DESTROYED these skis in 15-20 days of skiing,  top sheet is shit, tips delaminating, on the tips the metal edge has busted and bent (also destroying the base of the ski), and last week in whistler i blew out a foot and a half of the edge of the ski!  fun ski but definitely not durable. 

Armada AR6 09 - this is when i decided to go to armada.  bomb-proof, and if stupid shit happens to them, often they will take care of the problem, no questions asked.

i have 08 chronics in a 181. i have about 25 days on them, bombproof, still superstiff. i push these too, i have hit rocks, trees, you name it in the woods, these skis have hit it. i swear i blew out an edge up at Stowe when i hit what i thought was a rock, not even a scratch on them. worth your money. also, searchber "bockcountry code" or something like and there is a thread where you can pm the guy to get a 15% (i think) code off any purchase at backcountry.

yeah seriously. god damn them for their good pricing, helpfulness, and reliability. FUCKING INDUSTRY KILLERS! but seriously, not everyone has a good local ski shop and back country can be a life saver.

i love my walls, they are poppy and fun to ski, pretty stiff, idk how they flex compared to the suspects. some peeps said tehy have broken or someshit like that, mine are holding up good aside from topsheet chips.
theyre last years btw

of the three i would take the Rossi S4s/Ghettos/Scratch FS Wrs... Bomber ski.. clever construction, better for shipping than most, pop lasts forever, kill it on piste... Ar6 are ok but i liked the rossis better.. extremes chip alot i've heard but are otherwise bomber.. pretty heavy though

Get some surface Watch life 2's.  Although they're mainly made for pow, they are great park skis too.

damn sucks to hear that happened half way through the season

a friend of mine bought a new set of suspects this season and a giant strip of plastic next to the edge of the ski underfoot just ripped out...

ive heard good things about the new k2 extremes and armada AR6's btw

First edge crack appeared on day 15 of my season. By day 17 the crack had expanded and the base around it bubble up. Now there are two BIG cracks on the edge and a bubbled base underfoot. Pretty much unusable. I didn't hit anything cracy just park jumps, boxes, and rails. No urban whatsoever.

I would highly recommend getting either volkl ledges or walls. I currently have ledges and I have skied them pretty aggressively and they have held up great. My friend has walls and they are basically the same ski imo. Pretty stiff all around and very poppy. Also they ride well around the mountain but do me wonders in the park. I would highly suggest them my friend nor I have had any problems with them and he has been skiing his walls since last year.

Take into consideration I generally like stiffer park skis...

Of the skis I own, Id recommend:

Fischer Addict Pro.  They are stiff as hell(great for jumping, and everything else if you like a stiff ski), hold up pretty well, and are fairly light.  I havent had any problems with them. 

Ghetto/S4 Rossi ski.  Pretty good ski with a medium flex and very light.

Armada AR6: Very solid construction, light weight, medium flex, very similar to the rossi park skis in flex, etc.

Of the skis I own, I wouldn't recommend:

Dynastar Troublemaker: They fall apart pretty quick and I don't like how they ski to be honest.  Too squirrely and soft.

Armada T-Hall: A good ski if you dont mind buttering onto your ass off of rails, much less jumps.

Salomon Thruster: Awkward weigh distribution in the ski, and you said you wouldn't do salomon anyway.

ive heard the best things about line. i have rossi and have skied them for prolly 30days and have a few edge cracks. i hope they dont pullout though.

k2 extremes 09' loving them they are bombproof and id know i love jumping off cliffs and shit and doin urbans. the bases are still pristine and the edges ski like my race skis. def recommend these sticks
