So im real excited to go up tomorrow, been dumping all weekend and supposed to be dumping today and tonight. Our plans to hit up beaver creek but iv never skied there before, only my second year in Co and we always go to vail when theres alota snow. So i was hopin someone might be able to recommend some spots we should hit up, cuz id hate to waste a majority of a good pow day not really sure where to go. Thanks for any help.
I would hit vail any pow day. idk about beaver creek i just know its a racer place and it has tons of moguls. but im sure theres some descent places to ski in Beaver creek too
and that is exactly why you go to Beaver Creek when there isn't tons of new snow, or a day after a huge dump...But I don't know it very well, just start skiing, go into the trees, and you will find something.
I've skied them both and beaver creek wins it for me. they have top to bottom park lines (but if theres fresh snow stay out of the park). The stone creek chutes are some of the most challenging in-bounds terrain i've ever skied. Royal Elk Glade is an epic run. The beav is one of my favorite resorts ever. Never to crowded up top. Cant wait to get up there in march.
keep going to vail on pow days and fight the other 5,000 people going the same places your going.
The beaver is by far a win for me on a pow day over vail. Ive never waited in a lift line there, and the terrain is sick. A few places to check out would be:
Thresher Glades off the strawberry lift - steep trees that no one really knows about
The Bald Spot - technically out of bounds, theres a gate to it off of the top of Loco off the larkspur lift
Black Bear Glades off Grouse Mtn - steep and well placed trees. Can get moguled out sometimes.
Stone Creek Shoots -- What that pic above me is of. Far skiers right of the mtn. Pretty much the sickest inbounds stuff I've ever skied. A normal run is steep trees, to open bowl, to clifflines, to open bowl out. I pretty much go hee first, then the other spots later in the day.
Once you spend a pow day or two at beaver...it's hard to go anywhere else.
yea a few years ago stone creek chutes were o.o.b. but they opened them up to the public. i would say if there is a pow day to go there and royal elk glades are pimp. another little fun slope is 4get about it its this small steep pain in the ass run but its cool to do. and beaver creek has the most creative rail line and have a sick jump line this year
