i ride fixed gears, hate the hipster i dont care, ive made my arguments on that.
anyway! i was riding out on the roads here in Singapore and some dumbass decides to fuck with me and jumps into the bike lane as his frat bros cheer him on. now i dont think he realized how fast i was going because before i hit him he looked scared and almost shocked. now i didnt want to hit him. i grabbed my front brake (trigger finger brakes are life savers, i suggest you get them if you ride fixed) and locked a skid as fast as i could, but i mustve hit this guy doing a solid 20 mph.
i got pitched over my bike and my bike hit him full on. there was nothing i could do. now this guy is bleeding internally and has massive bruising on his head after the rest of my bike hit him. i luckily am not paying for this because everyone saw him and witnessed that this dude jumped the fuck in front of me. and i cant say i feel sorry for him. i hope the guy recovers, but really? what the fuck do people think when they do this stuff? i just dont get it, and i hope he learns not to fuck around with people on road bikes.
sparknotes: hit some guy on my bike after he jumped into the bike lane to fuck with me. he is in the hospital, im not paying cuz people witnessed. dont fuck with people on road bikes, they go fast.

way to rep the fixie. and that sucks about the wheel. people dont understand anything about getting hit by a bike, or hitting one. these asshole kids who live a few towns over from me were driving on a small 2 lane road and saw a woman biking on it, on a really nice roadbike, so she knew what she was doing. anyway, they all dare the driver to "nudge her off the road," which he does, at about 35 mph. she falls into a ditch and dies on impact. just goes to show you how stupid people can be, particularly when it comes to how serious bike crashes are.

shit. how much are fixie rims?
^and to dude above with the story, it's disgusting that anybody would do that. i haven't fallen on my road bike yet, but if i did, i would get wrecked (at the very least). when you're going that fast, there isn't a whole lot anything can do to protect you unless you're wearing MTB armour or something.

woooord. i was probably going around 35 when he got in front of me. i couldve killed this guy if the circumstances were right. and i would have to live with having killed someone for the rest of my life because of some idiot frat boy wanting to fuck around with a random person.
AND WHAT IF HE BENT MY NITTO BARS! OR GOT BLOOD ON MY OURYS! i would have finished him right then and there if that had happened. revenge fatality for my road slayer.

MTB armor doesnt even do that much, having a spine protector can actually increase your risks of getting a broken back, (if you read Decline you should have seen that story). i used to ride downhill in Idaho.
the main reason im so pissed about it is because it was a brand new deep-V. which firstly i had to order from Japan and secondly, i had just put on my new frame which i had just gotten after about 4 months wihtout a bike. it cost a lot.

yeah, its strict, but stricter on locals than on ex-pats like myself. both of us are ex-pats. he was a Britisher. and in any country its pretty damn hard to get executed for a bike accidne that wasnt your fault with about 25 witnesses when you have an American passport and a Belgian passport. no way in hell.

i don't read decline, but i know from personal experience that armour can save a life. as far as road biking goes i can only think that it would protect against road rash, but then leather would probably be better for that. but of course nobody who rides road bikes is going to wear either, they're either going to wear the spandex racing outfits, or their shorts and tees haha. so anybody who thinks it's funny to fuck with road bikers should think again, it's not funny, it's fucking stupid and dangerous.
sucks for your bike though dude, at least you didn't end up with internal bleeding eh?

i have no friends but NS over here, i get hated on for my tight pants every day and most people dont expect an NS member to be living in Singapore.
