^As to what he said, that is also a good way to get hurt. Just because your best buddy hit the biggest feature in the park doesn't mean you should too. If you both go to a goal you personally have been considering, and he offers you support, confidance, then you will have the best, safest conditions. If you are the same level, then there can be friendly competition, upping one anothers tricks.
It's one thing if you ask someone to scope a landing, but if you need to ask someone if HE thinks YOU should hit it, then you should already know its not a good idea. You don't have the assurance that you need, and that could be catastrophic.
As you approach, visualize yourself completing it, and will probably work.
