Benefit of rockered skis?

no a rockered ski will defenitely not have a tight turn radius.. to me it seems like they would have a wider turn radius. rockered skis are meant to be skied in mostly powder conditions. why dont u just look up the turn radius of the ski you want and compare it to your current ski

turn radius of the ski is set.  you are not going to change the sidecut.

but a rockered ski is going to alter the running length, mostly on hard snow.  So you will notice a decrease in the running length.  This can occasionally make the ski feel shorter than it actually is.

Rocker makes tree skiing much better.  Quicker pivoting, turning, better float, etc. especially in soft snow.

Rocker makes everything but hardpack better, IMO, and is even a lot of fun on hardpack.  Ice, well, that is not a lot of fun.

As with all skis, you can pick a rockered ski with a small or large radius.

a 192 sally rocker, which is rockered, is going to make much different turns than a rossi s7 or something, regardless of the rocker.

If you are looking for a good tree ski, I would look to something like the s7, JJ, etc.  The arg is an amazing tree ski, but might be a bit much for the east coast.  I would say the s7 and JJ are hard to be.  The bibby pro should also be considered.

Just wanted to add the EP pro to that list, I ski in switzerland, which on a normal day is fairly similar to my one experience of EC skiing (the difference is the snow is a bit lighter i think).. I love my EP pros through the trees.. Such a quick turn, easy to pivot etc..

I'll throw this out there - I'm 5'7", 150 lbs. I'm tempted to look at the JJs, but at 185 they seem a little large. How much does the rocker affect the length? 175 JJ is out of the question, I have 175 ARVs as my park ski.

Any other suggestions? S7, JJ, Bibby pro...Live Life 1/2? obSETHed?

definitely go with jj's or s7's, jj's turning radius is 14.3 and they're stiff so they hold an edge on groomers and ice but also pivot fast and float well in pow. because of their stiffness you get no tip flap in crud. jj's and s7's are very similar, s7's are less oriented for switch riding but they weigh like 3.5 lbs more than jj's

I was debating whether to get a rockered ski or a stiff, non-rockered ski for next year. Sounds like the JJ will work!

id say get obsetheds or the lib-tech NAS recurves i ski in vt and i have obsethed if u monut them like +5  there better in the trees 

 i demoed the recurve freerides and they were about the same but the grip on ice was a little bit better but both pretty naste

Check out Surface LL2's. I demoed them and got rid of my Hellbents the next day. They are lighter and the edge hold is 100X's superior.
