Petition ESPN - NO TEXT TO WIN

Who can we petition to take the text to win out of the X-games.  Can Mr. Bishop help us? He is one who helps choose athletes for the X-games.  Can John Symms help us? He works for EXPN.  Can Mike Douglass help us? How about Luke Van Valin?  Whoever can help us, we need it bad.  How does a double front flip beat a switch double cork 1260, or a switch double rodeo 1080, or even a Kangaroo flip?  This is just getting rediculous.  I could write for hours about how sad this is for our sport.  I mean, it is great that he is giving 10k to Riley Poor, there is no greater deed than that.  However, I am sure he could raise money to get that money for Riley anyway.   Do we really want double front flips becoming the new big air.  Next we will probably see a double back, which would soon be followed by a tripple back + 1080 (i.e. Triple Triple...you know where this is going). 

I hope the best for Riley Poor, I honestly do, but I hope that Simon never wins another big air again with a double front flip and a misty 1080 a la 2002.

Sick that he is giving 10k to Riley but I agree the dub front should not have won. Dumont is such an amazing skier he could have easily done some harder tricks and won instead.

if you think about it simon played it smart by choosing a "crowd pleasing" trick so that he would get the vote
he knew if there were judges he didnt have a chance
he knew that the texting system is complete horse shit
and he knew 2 front flips would beat double corks because the fans like flips more because they dont know how hard an off axis spin is

Simon Dumont is the gayest skier out there right now.  He should've just removed himself from the big air comp.  He either needs to get some new tricks for big air/pipe, or just quit competing.  Really, I can't think of anything lamer than throwing the tricks that he has been throwing in big air for the last few years.  PK should've won, he threw the sickest trick I have seen in a big air in awhile.  Screw you Dumont...you deserve some hate.  Please donate all of your prize money to Riley Poor, along with your Target and Toyota sponsorship.  ESPN should not have big air in the X games if it is going to be as lame as it was tonight...the Snowboarding and Skiing Big air were pathetic!

I know its stupid that Simon won but u gotta think about this way. he new when he came in the comp its all about crowd pleasing and thats what e did. Simon could have done a 180 and still won because he is Simon.  You only reinforced my point.  This is not a Popularity contest, it is a big air contest, and the only way to make it SKIING rather than AMERICAN IDOL is to get rid of the TEXT TO WIN!

Maybe if Simon threw something that he hadn't done over and over again for the last few years, tricks that PK also could have done easily, we would be arguing over a different point.  HOWEVER, as I said before, this isn't texting to say who you like the most, it is texting for the best trick, and somehow the worst trick (although still a fun trick to watch occasionally) of the night won the night!
