2001 A4 or 2007 Impreza??

So I am almost 17, and looking into getting a car of my own. Right now I'm looking at two options

~ 2007 Subaru Impreza 2.5i sedan, 17000 miles, $12000 http://www.kengarffhyundai.com/used-inventory/vehicle-details.htm?vehicleId=b93e7a8b4046381e0070cf32b5369d16

Both are manuals, sunroof, audi has leather and heated seats, bose stereo, turbo, and more room

So NS, what do you think? Who has experience with either of these and could point me in the right direction?

should i try to wait a little while and see if an impreza wagon becomes available, or will the sedan have sufficient room?

I have plenty of room in my WRX. Get a set of yakima racks if you're worried.

ok word, like you can fit golf clubs in the trunk and whatnot? and really, how bad is the backseat room?

Backseat room isn't great, but not that bad. If you don't have your front seats really far back and ghetto leaning it's fine. You can fit golf clubs in it no problem, fold down middle seat adds room for skis inside and the like. I love it, wouldn't trade it for anything...except maybe an STi haha.

I'm 6'0" and I usually have my seat as far back as it can go and people can still squeeze in the back. If someone is riding behind me I can pull my seat a few inches forward and still drive comfortably no problem. There isn't any less room than an A4, those things have a relatively small backseat as well.

I would go with the Suby. Audis are pretty expensive on repairs. Sure Audis haave good engines, but its most electrical problems. but on the other hand the Audi is cheaper.

I'm not sure how your insurance works because of the year difference, but because the Audi is a luxury car more than the Suby is, it will most likely cost more for insurance. But then again there's a 6 year difference between the cars.
and to correct you on a side note, both of these cars aren't turbos. both of them are N/A, meaning naturally aspired.

btw the Suby uses 87 octange fuel(the cheapest one) and im pretty sure the audi will use premium(91).

If I were you I would reconsider the choices, there are better cars than these for different needs.
If you just want something that has awd, there's more than these 2 cars.

but if you have to choose between those 2, the suby wins hands down.
Why?
-looks
-type of fuel used
-warranty still on the car
-maybe cheaper insurance

i would go with the audi most people who talk about them dont even have them and no anything about them at all there great cars good reliabililty if u take care of them yes they arent as good as subies in reliability they do take premium gas but it doesnt add that much extra if ur gunna get one u should put it in its SOO much mroe comfortable smoother ride

the subie has fucen 170,000 miles on it dude thats fucken rediculous why would you b uy a car that has that many miles on it who cares if its newer it was beat to shit and driven a rediculous amount and it has a much greater chance of dying then the audi considering it has 170,000 miles on it.

the subie is N/A, but the audi is def turbo its the 1.8t not the 2.8N/A

and yes, b/c of this the audi will require premium, which is quite a setback...

uts really not a big deal, in my turbo car
(schabb) i can run basically whatever octane but lower octane yields lower mpgs. adn performance.

that being said, i always fill up with 93, and for an entire 16.9 gallon fill up its a difference of mabye 3 dollars total, not a big deal imo, when you get max performance and (for example) 25mpgs on 87, but on 93 you get 28mpgs. which is basically what i get in my whip with various octanes. with 87 it might be lower like 23mpgs. and those are combined city and highway numbers

i have an audi a4 and would take an audi over a subaru any day but between those two cars i would definatly go with the impreza

It's cause Saabs are more turned for Efficiency than Performance. In my WRX, I can't run anything below 91 without running the risk of damaging the engine. I ALWAYS run 93. I even get a huge performance cut with 91 from 93. You run the risk of engine knocking and a bunch of other crap because the temperature of combustion is different.

i remember seeing a test on a 9-5 and there was a power drop of 10% from 93-87 octane.

but what i ment was dont worry about having to full up wtih 93, its a tmost a difference of 5 bucks per tank, so dont let that keeep you from buying a car you like.

Ya, it's not much of a change. No big deal. But if you do get a turbod car don't run less than 91 or not only will you lose performance but you can also damage your engine.

btw i would go with the subaru.  it's going to handle the snow better then an audi.  That's just an opinion though.
