i am looking to get a new pair of twins, chronics or invaders, and i dont know what to get. i spend about 50% in the park and 50% riding. im a east coast kid and spend a lot of times hiting urban rails and boxes, but still like to rip it up on groomers. im about 5 10 and 150 pounds, and i dont know weather to go with chronics or vaders. if anyone has ridden the 09 model of each ski please leave our comments below.
i am leaning mor eto the chronics bc there stiffer from the groomer, but i like the invader bc of the price and bc there lighter for the rails....does anyone know how the look px 12 jibs are?
You're almost the same as me, i'd say i ski about 50/50 and i just got 08 chronics. I heard they are the same as the 09 ones, so i'll give my input anyway:
I've ridden my three times now i think, and so far I love them. Jumps are so much fun, and i have never had so much fun landing backwards before. they are stiffer the the invaders as everybody said, and since i'm like 120lbs, i can;t really butter too well. You'll probably have a better time buttering these, since you are heavier. Rails are fun on these too, and they seem extremely durable. They have good pop of lips of jumps, and a nice flex for landing bigger hits. Overall, they are a very good park ski, i have mine mounted inbetween recommended and true center, and they shred!
Groomers are also fun with chronics. When i ski groomers, i like to haul ass! These are awesome at high speeds, and would probabaly be a lot better than the invaders for just crusing or going fast.
Obviously, my vote is for chronics, and i live in New Jersey, and ski Pennsylvania and New York too, so i'm mostly on ice/ grommed and thin packed pow
i have the 08 chronics, super sick ski. i felt the 09 chronics, and idk if it was because it was a smaller size or what, but it was definitely softer than the 08. mine are stiff as hell, even after 20 days of hard riding on them.
personally, i dont like the feel of a stiff ski, unless of course you like to just charge and well idk. I like softer skis because its a lot more fun, sometimes i go on ym bros invaders, and i cant get off they are so light and playful So much fun.
I have both, I mostly use my invaders but I've really mostly been skiing park lately. I'd suggest getting the chronics and mounting them -2cm from true center, they're a better ski for cruising and they feel good and stable off of jumps. The invaders would be good if you were doing mostly park or park/urban, but they even feel a bit too soft on bigger tables, so like I said, chronics are the way to go.
I own invaders and ar6's which are very comparable to chronics. If i were you i'd def grab the chronics. If you throw on a light binding like the jester or griffon you'll be so well off in the air and on rails. Very light setup that will kill it in the park, and shred the groomers, even rip a little pow if it's not too deep.
