usually i stay out of these, simply because the majority of the people discussing these issues on this website have no comprehension of how the political system works.
first of all, the constitution applys to CITIZENS only. So i dont know why your even bringing it up.
Furthermore, these are now POW's covered under the geneva convention. The US soldiers tortured in Japan were covered by this convention, thus the Japanese broke international law, and were able to be punished.
Bush broke no laws, as these terrorists are not part of a larger state sanctioned operation, have no set heirarchy or ranking system, are considered "Enemy Combatants" and are protected under no level of international treaty.
and just so I don't sound like a deuchebag I'm just completing a degree in Politics and Governance.
Bush did break in some people's eyes "ethical' boundarys. However he is no war criminal.
one more thing, You Americans all complain constantly about gitmo and how harsh you are on terrorists... but then get attacked, and blame your government for not doing all it could. I guess what im saying is torture justifys saftey, Bush's policies, however ethically flawed, did keep the USA safe from further terrorist attacks despite 4 other attacks happening globally during his stay in power.
something to think about
