fucking expensive I'd guess. call the airline. and after you pick your jaw up off of the floor after they tell you it costs 1209478298375239841238412-34 to bring skis, call fedex and ship for like 30-50 bucks. (don't really know if there is a premium on ak shipping)
last time i checked it was free to fly skis and snowboards, but i dont know alaskan policy it could be different from american. why would you come to the u.s to ski when you live in alaska anyway? isn't skiing better their?
when was the last time you checked? You're right in the sense that you can trade your regular luggage for skis but you're only allowed one bag and if you've got clothes to bring you're going to have to pay for your skis or your bag.
i realize that in this particular instance my input is useless, but for anyone else flying in the continental united states, check out southwest airlines. there's no fee for up to two checked bags. and their rates are pretty low (260 round trip from cleveland to slc).
alaska is america... Why would you come to the U.S. to ski? he lives in the U.S.
ALASKA IS AMERICA!!!!!!
have you guys seen that movie with nicolas cage where hes in hawaii and says to the flight attendent he needs to get to the states, and shes like "sir, we are a state..." and hes like "...THE MAIN LAND!!!"
Heres a secret. Although ive never flown alaskan airlines but it works with 99% of all airlines
Airlines do not charge for golf bags. Just tell them that your skis are golf clubs and you wont have to pay a dime! I use this trick all the time with my kiteboard bag, its got a false PGA tag on it.
i flew AA to CO recently and they charged me 100 bucks, 25 for checking an oversize bag and 75 bucks worth of oversize fees. on the way back they charged me nothing
