I've played for a bit over an hour so far. I should have rented first. Don't get me wrong it's a great game but there's nothing new that really excites me. The worst part is the interface and the city map. Definitely rent before you buy.

i think its a sick game def better than skate 1 cept missin those big mega ramp tricks and the map is a bit confusing but easier to find shit like skateparks, spots, etc

Played the demo, and personally I like the original better...    The control for walking off of your board is just plain awful, and kinda ruins the experience for me

First impressions on playing it today for 2 hours. Note pretty much the only xbox game I play is skate.

-The rider almost felt heavier on flat ground with spins and such. You can't spin as fast either. Misty 7's are now way harder to do...

-The new one footed stuff is really awesome.

-The city is meh. So far what i've skated, I like the original city better. This ones too busy, to many ramps floating around, too fake, and too much tony hawk.

-This brings me to my next point: this is clearly not near tony hawk yet, but it is closer than the original skate. Since skate was so good they could have only really added more, but seeing a ramp in the middle of a street spot thats already overcrouded is weak. The walking around isn't cool but it helps get up staircases, and the dragging of objects feels unnecessary. The environment is to crouded in some places, and too baren in others.

-However, the ramps belong in the skate parks, and thats where the movable objects belong too. The new skateparks fucking rule, with so many creative things.

-Many reused features/lines/areas.

-And I can't find the gliitch that let you land anything in skate 1 (left then right trigger), making landing huge jumps impossible :(.

-Overall, less but better features would have been better, but don't get me wrong - the game still fucking rocks.

can anyone who has played the demo for skate 2 and has now played the actual game comment on the slowness of rendering? in lamens terms, does it have the same "feel" as the first skate? in the demo everything felt much slower and lagging, but i'm hoping that was just due to the fact that it was a downloadable demo and not up to the speed of the game itself

No, it doesnt change much. Except the lag is gone, but the slow "feel" is still there, you cant spin as much as the other games.

Yeah well there are a lot of pluses; a lot of clothing options, handplants and footplants (allow for a whole new set of combo tricks) and the new levels are awesome. I found a spot last night that is similar to cannon box.

to those reading wondering if the game is good... seems like almost half the comments in this thread are something thats wrong with the game. sure it isnt perfect (neither was the first skate) but common this game is fucking sick and THE BEST video game ive ever played hands down.

not that much new? are you fucking kidding me. the map is the same city yes but with with new features added everywhere. bigger/better rails, bigger/better ramps (new mega ramp is sooooo sick), more creative features, you can go way faster, there is so much new on the map how can you complain.

more new things that arnt in skate 1: footplants, no complys, finger flips, ollie norths, 1 foot grabs, acid drops, seriously so many new tricks its amazing. also dragging around rails and ramps to make your own custom shit makes the game so much better. you drag a rail somewhere then leave it there come back and its still there how sick is that.

I dont know how ud do doubles yet and not sure if you can but in reality i dont care about that to much. if all your playing the game for is huge spins then u might be let down a little. but even then ythe ramps are bigger and better built so...

i dont understand how people can not like this game. if you havnt played either game and want to know which to buy, just start with skate 2. there are way more possibilities in this game to be creative and make ur own sick tricks which is what the game is about. skateboarders will like skate2 better.

I would rent both and see which you like better. It may end up being the original Skate. As someone mentioned above, the city feels like a level out of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. The physics are off and all those new tricks are stupid gimmicks that you probably won't use much anyways. The only addition I like so far is being able to get off your board to get up stairs. There's also the horrible map system which is a step back from Skate's.

Basically, this is a cluttered game full of fluff and no real new worthwhile features. Buy Skate for 20$.

Kinda made me mad too.  I beat it the first day it came out.  I agree that the city is getting a little "Tony Hawk" ish.  Love the new mega compound with the fun track.  Also no online movable objects or filming WTF. all in all good game.  I will always love Skate.
