Anthems vs blend vs chronic

which do you guys think is the better ski for me?

161 anthems

161 invaders

168 chronic

info:

about 5' 6"  /  5' 7"

about 70% park 30% all mountain. currently ride public enemies but feel the need to have a lighter ski. but i want a ski that has the all mountain/park function of the PEs im still a bit new to park(just started this season). if there are any other brand skis that are compareable, please tell

I have a pair of 178 blends mounted -2 from center. It's a great ski really great riding switch but the chronic  is more park and the invader is pure park. But the reason I like the blend more then the chronic is I can still ride pow pow

where do you ski? what type of allmt terrain/snow? how much do you weigh? do you have a preference for soft or stiff skis?

i'd rule out the invader if you want to get any allmt skiing done.

i am 5/6 5/7 and weigh about 125-130
should i just keep my 04-05 public enemies or get a new ski?
money isnt really an issue but it is because i have some other skis that i would like to sell but i doubt they will sell....

i live in cali and ride on squaw valley so the terrain isn't too icy when im up there. im usually riding just in the resort, no BC or anything. i can get the anthems limited edition for around almost near 300 shipped...

would i be able to resell the anthems on ns if i didn't like em?

Yes walls are easily 200$ better than anthems on piste and all over the mountain.. Didn't like anthems at all for all mountain stuff.. Walls ski it pretty well.. If you want more of an all mountain ski though, don't go for a symmetrical centre mount.. I made that mistake this year and now i don't really have a groomer ski.. I thought my reno jibs would be that ski but i find them really skittish, and the edge hold not great (cos of the rail edges)..

the anthems will slay anything on the hill while still being hella playful when needed.
they butter really nice but are still stabble enough to mach 10 down groomers, and fun in soft snow, (havent had a fullon pow day with thm yet though).  and i ski east coast so i can tell you that they definitly can hold an edge.  wellp thats my short rant on skiis, never skiid walls or invaders, my last skiis were some tooshortforme 169 fugatives, so steppin up to 178 anthems made a big difference all around

should i have gotten a 171 instead of a 161 anthem?
i ride 159 k2 PEs and they feel pretty good. but im worried about the anthem being centered mounted and making it feel a bit shorter...
this might be a stupid question but. would any here recommend mounting anthem like -4 or something from center? just so that it would be a little better all mountain? or would that destroy the purpose of the anthems

i feel like i made a mistake buying anthems....are volkl walls really that much better in every single category over the anthems?

yes... walls are quality, sidewall.. stiffer and made by volkl, volkl is awesome

and where should i mount my anthems?
i want them to be able to ride all mountain just as good or better than my public enemies.
is mounting my skis center really that big a deal on 100% symmetrical skis?

the flex and the sidecut of a symmetrical ski hinge on the bindings being center mounted, they would not flex properly and prob feel very strange if mounted otherwise

well i was looking over volkl walls, and they have true center mount and boot center mount. and their skis are 100% symmetrical

Well I was in your same position at the star of this season and went with the anthems. They are very fun and playful in the park and can rip groomers. After skiing for a month or two I can even manage them fairly in the bumps.  Just don't expect to ski steep glades in deep powder and enjoy it, i tried this and it was very disappointing. I have not tried the chronics but have skied my friends invaders and noticed that they felt much softer than the anthems when skied. So if you don't plan on skiing the deep and steep or sending it off of huge jumps, or if you have other skis for that purpose in your quiver than go with the anthem. Is fun.

how steep are we talking about? steep as in double black diamond trails steep? i sometimes like to ride those trails, but most of the time im in the park or just speedying FAST through blue trails

how do anthems hold up in the blue trails? (intermidiate trails)

first off.
any park ski is good on groomers.
the anthem is a super sick park ski.  so it should kill the cords.
if you are into pow at all, take a look at the blends.  the will hold you up alot better than the anthems, but if your focusing on a park/groomer ski, then the anthems should be fine.

if i have this right, anthems are more for the person who does more park than all mountain skiing and chronics are for the guy who does more all mountain then park?

or anthems=jib type stuff
chronics= big jumps?

this is true.
the anthems are a symmetrical ski.  the chronics have a thinner tail than tip.  but you probably won't even be able to notice it.  if you plan on (trying to) ski any powder, the anthems are a much better choice.

 I have skied steep groomed on my anthems and had a ton of fun, its when you add powder and trees into the mix that things get funky. Not impossible just awkward feeling, i skied my old thrusters and foils with a 10mm smaller waist in steep pow and have had a blast so its likely the center mount that makes the difference. Seems like the chronics will do you well from what i have read.

yea i doubt i'll be skiing any real powder. unless you count powder as going off of resort trails on the day after a storm. looks like i should i have bought chronics then....damn i already bought anthems, anyone interested? lol

with my weight and height and size of ski, would the anthems ride stiffer than how they are viewed as?
5-6ish and 125lbs size 161cm
im just really concerned that i made a bad choice on buying the anthems because they aren't going to hold up as well as my public enemies outside of the park. I dont want to have a pain in the ass trying to get down the mountain. would it really be that bad to mount anthems not center?

every park ski is good on groomers. 
and the anthems are made to be center mounted.  i would keep it that way.

Dude.  I think you're viewing the Anthem wrong.  It's not going to have a single issue getting you down the mountain.  My friend has a pair and loves them.  He never has a problem anywhere.  If you are worried about it being center and you decide to mount it back.  Just start worrying more, because if you move it back then you're ruining the ski's purpose.  Mount it center and you will be fine.  It's going to be an AMAZING ski.  There's a reason that's LINE's best selling ski.

i have anthems, they are legit. great in park, good all around ski as well. decent in not super-deep powder.

And DON'T mount backward or forward of center. Mount it where its made to be mounted or you will regret it. I assure you of this much.

if you already have them id say, mount them up and have a go, i can rip through woods with ease with them, blast through moguls and steep stuff, they handle park amazingly, and hold on groomers and ice, im 6'2 and 155lbs on 178s, and they dont feel too flexible to me, and i think that with your weight theyd probally feel good, no point in spending all that money wthout trying them out, if you dont like them then sell them,  i saw your buy sell thread, and i would pay around that for gear thats only been used a couple days.  i mean brand new 400somthin dollar skiis for 230, thats a hell of a steal.

Get some 176 chronics, mount them -2. You wont regret it.
