Does it make a difference to have dull edges on rails.

My AR6s have sharp as fuck edges would it be easier to do rails/boxes with dull edges???

it no easier or harder you just have more of a chance of your edges stopping you or slowing you down oon the rail but it shouldnt matter they will become dull from riding them

yeah it helps, i wouldn't say to go out and detune them but with sharp edges you can catch much easier and the grind isn't as smooth.  just go out and slide a bunch of rails and soon they'll detune naturally and you can tell how you like it for yourself

huge difference, they bite, crack, and pull out if you leave them sharp and hope the rail dulls em. you gotta use a file or a drill and grinder bit.

get a gummy stone to file it down it doesnt leave little nicks in the metal like a file does

and sharp edges suck on rails, so i got MAGNE TRACTION

i take a flap disc and actually ROUND the edges that contact the rail.

dull edges make u look steezy. charles gangier has sharp edges and u dont want to look like him

de-tune them. sharp edges will get dull on their own but until then, you can get caught up in little burrs on the rail or box that could send you flying, and possibly damage your skis.

hahaha brutal. but i sorta agree, you can relax so much more with dull edges. i cant stand jibbing with sharp edges

I shave my edges down under my bindings just so I dont get hung up but it doesnt effect your skiing

let them dull on there own, and in the mean time go cut some hard turns, enjoy'em while there sharp. but don't go racer on me.... i would feel terrible.

Do you detune only underfoot ? or over the whole ski ?

+if i sharpen them with a a+1 bevel(so my edge makes a 1°angle with the base, wont that be kinda the same?

+ how much do you guys detune, do you just break the edge or do you (as mentioned above) round it off completely?

I mainly ride pow and big mountain...

caues theyll charge you 30ish for a detune, if they even do it. i dont think they can cause of liability reasons, sending a ski out thats technically "unsafe"and itll be way cheaper/ you can do it exactly how you want by getting a file adn do it yourself
