Skiing class at uni :)

So I have my first alpine skiing class tonight, I'm really actually excited to see what it's like. I am pretty sure it's a beginner's class but oh well, me and one of my friends took it together. Skiing for three hours every Tuesday night and I get a credit for it? Hell yeah :) I just hope I don't have to learn how to pizza and french fry all over again.. although those skills might need some brushing up on haha maybe I'll just ski switch the whole time.. this thread is really pointless huh...? Has anyone taken a college course where you ski? If so what was it like?? I'm hoping to have a bomber time haha

Keystone Ski School made the employees take a lesson. It helped my skiing a lot.

i took a beginner golf class as a good golfer it was entertaining and i jsut used it for practicing my game.

I think it should be pretty fun/entertaining.. I want to see what people are wearing and what kind of gear they have, the prof sent out an email with a link to a description of "proper skiing attire".... :] Who knows maybe it will help my skiing

No, I'm paying thousands of dollars for my engineering degree and all the credits going towards that, this skiing class was an add on after I registered for my other classes, and seeing how it's my 16th credit this semester it's free :)

I was just going to ask if you're going to UMD.  My mom said she took it when she went to college.  I don't remember what she said it was like, but if it's absolute beginner shit, see if you can ski switch the entire time.

Hahaha... you should go like you've never skied before your entire life and make yourself out then to be like some amazing skiing prodigy. I did that once... took a beginner lesson to accompany my friend who was new to skiing last year. The instructor was like "WOW ZEE VERY GOOD!! ZEE ZURE NEVER ZKIED BEFORE? ZEE HAS NATURAL TALENT!"

You get .5 credit for beginner, intermediate, and advanced level skiing at Michigan Tech. Mont Ripley is right across the Portage.

thats good work for some credits but honestly if you can ski switch better than forwards u need to work on that. nothing wrong with being good at switch but i feel like kids these days cant make a proper carve or turn.

You're right, and I'm not one of those kids who can only ski park. I feel that I can "make a proper carve or turn" just fine, and I just found out in that class I have good technique with just a couple tweaks. It was actually a fun class, get to go skiing, learn a few things about my skiing and watch people ski haha
