Every1 is talkin' grouse n' seymour but what about cypress?

Hey,
I'm current employed as a employed as a shaper at cypress (only full time skier i must add). Not from the area but this was the only place that took me in.

Rode Seymour once cause my buddies all work there and i must say super chilled out place. Everyone seems to be chills and friendly.  Park crew are forward thinkers too what i respect and seem to be able to do whatever the fudge they want.(i hear they just play SKATE and design their park based on the game)

Grouse no comment. I'm too poor to pay to ride.

But what about cypress?
I'm there everyday pretty much start to close everyday and i hardly see any jibbers! Why is this? Have bridges been burnt in previous seasons?

Well i'm trying to make a difference here. Like the other day I threw together the d-f-d and f-d-f to make a 5 dirty kinked rail.

If any1's got some suggestions i'd like to hear them, or come out for some laps.

Like you said, people don't like to pay to ride. Seymour, and the Beast That Shall Not Be Named, charge in the 200s for a season's pass. Cypress charges 800. Game over.

I still go 2 or 3 times a year though. I have always had a soft spot in my heart for cypress no matter what anyone says about the place. Nostalgia!

damn, i wish i got an early bird season when it was still only 200$.... student rate is now +500$ what kindof a student ski bum can afford that?

But serously skiing is a rich mans activity. In a perfect world lift tickets wouldn't be more that 10 bucks a day (you can hardly get a meal for that on the hills). or why can't  the hills just become friends like the big 3 in banff with transferable passes. But yeah right, like that would ever happen....

haha yeah a students seasons pass for whistler is 460, use to be 383 ( with all txes)........why would anyone with a 1/4 of a brain pay to go to cypress? I'd go to cypress for like $15 or if it wasn't super busy all of the time, or if they didn't have such a mega anal attitude.

I have a whistler pass, its cheaper or just as much as a pass to cypress....do i need to say anymore?

charge less and I will pick up a second pass to a North shore mt, i had a pass to Seymour last year found i spent more time at whistler so i just didnt bother this year.

Seriously, charge less and we will come.

the problem with cypress...

you guys have speed control people



and the fact that i can go to mt baker which is just a million times way more ignent snow/price/terrain-wise

Honestly if cypress had seasons passes that were competitive, ie in the 250 area, for students, I would consider it. But we are not the target market for your hill.

I'd pay like 350 for a cypress pass and drop grouse in a second.
I hear cypress put together a half decent park now.
And a pipe to boot as of last year.
I like pipe. I suck at it, but I like it.

The only reason i ski "the mountain that shall not be named" (whoever said that made me laugh really hard) is because I can bus to it on public transit, and the season passes are cheap. My cousin bought a pass to cypress and ended up paying like 600 bucks. I laughed at him when he told me that, none of the shore mountains are worth 600 bucks.

I used to use the exact same reasoning... but it's not worth it. The Beast That Shall Not Be Named doesn't deserve your business. You can public transit your way to the base of seymour and then take the shuttle up from parkgate anyway.

i went to Cypress about a week ago, and it was fuckin fun. i liked the ghetto park chair, the sketchy FDFDFDFDF rail! and overall the park was pretty sick. they had a nice big kicker round the bag, with hella nice rails. only downside, $50 for a night sesh is ridic. there should be a proper student rate for all those mtns, or a bc season pass. i dunno, like $1000 for all the resorts in BC.

No transit combined with overpriced lift tickets leaves Seymour to be the only choice left on the north shore.

There are only 2 ski areas on the north shore right? Seymour (The fun one) and Cypress (the over priced one).

All Seymour needs is a good pipe.

Ya I'm one of the Junior Ski Patrollers at Cypress and I can see that the park has improved a TON from last year props to you guys for that

so far from what I've been able to see as of last Sunday:

The Lower Park:

From the top, you have a choice of a pyramid/wallride or a 15-ish feet butter box. From there, theres a small jump to the left, and a bunch of boxes and rails on the right ranging from 10 ft flat to 20ft dfd. After the jump there is another 10ft. table which leads to the bottom of the midway chair.

Upper Park (M):

The first feature, on the right is a jump and on the left a down box. Next, another jump following the first jump and the fdfdfdfd rail. After that there is a choice of two jumps, either a S jump to the left or an M jump to the right. The last hit is a rainbow box/hip to the right.

Upper Park (L/XL):

Starting at the top there is a log tap/hip, which leads you to the run in to an XL 25ft.(?) table, to a 15ft. step-up on the left or a battleship box on the right.

Oh and about the price:

waaay to high. You guys are only 20$ below whistler and honestly I'd pay that much more to shred a mountain 100 times bigger for sure. Lower the prices and we will come. Also, I have to pay 13 bucks everytime I go up on the shuttle and I'm a freakin employee. Plus food and all it ends up around 20-30 bucks WITH a pass. To me thats just bullshit when I have a Y2Play and could go skiing with a sandwich at grouse since I already have a bus pass.
