What would you do if in my situation?

I bought new skis about a month ago, but I didn't bring my boot in the same day, so they told me they wouldn't have them ready that day. The guy in the store helping me asked if I wanted to pay now, or when I picked up the skis. I was in a hurry, so I told him i'd pay when i picked them up.

I went back with my boot the next day, and they told me the skis should be ready the next morning. I called them after breakfast that the following day, and the guy answering the phone apologized and told me I would have to wait another day.

Then when I got there the next day, the guy that helped me the first day wasn't there, so I found another guy and told him I was there to pick up my skis. He went and got them for me, and when he handed them to me he said "here you go, have a nice weekend!" and he opened the door for me.

Appearently the guy that helped me the first day accidently checked the little box on the paper that said "paid", and I could basically walk out of there with brand new skis and bindings for free.

I told the guy that I hadn't paid for them, and he told me the papers said they were paid for, but that it was probably a mistake and he thanked me for being honest.

What would you have done? Free skis and bindings?

If I was working at the store I would have given you some free shit for being so honest though.

Pay for it. I wouldn't be able to sleep if I just walked out. Support the industry, support your local shop, and gain some major karma doing it. I'm sure the guys at the shop put in a good word for you. Honest people like you get good treatment from shops. Who knows, maybe they'll hook you up with a deal next time you're in there. Your chances of getting a discount are certainly much greater than if they realized you jacked that setup. Feel good about yourself, you have karma on your side (and not just the dumb little rating thing on the screen, although I gave you a 10/10).

I would have done the exact same thing. I feel like they would somehow find out and then come after me or something. But I don't think I could live with having "stolen" a setup from them.

You def. did the right thing, I would have paid for them for sure. I wouldnt fell right knowing that some guy made a little mistake and gave you them for free, if the dude got fired or something I would feel even worse.

Huh, i guess i would hav paid. thats too muich money to rip someone off for, unless it was a big store like GI Joes or walmart or some corperate shit like that, in that case i sure would have stole them.

you did the right thing by paying, if you didnt i bet your skis woulda gotten jacked first day out, adn then the shop would call you up and tell you they made a mistake adn you still gotta pay for skis you dont even have anymore.

Yea, I would have paid... that being said, I use the local ski shops, and they need as much business as they can get... can't steal from those guys.


Earlier in the year I took my jacket down the dry cleaners in the next town over for a repair job. When I went to pick it up there was this fancy dinner jacket with my ski jacket.
I was like WTF?
the lady working there was all like "what? this isn't yours?"
I told her no.
She asked me if I was sure.
At that point I laughed and said "well, yea... but I mean, I can take it if you really want.
Obviously I didn't take it, but it was a funny couple seconds for sure.


Once I was at the Baskin Robins in Horseshoe Bay, BC. Me and my lady got a cone each, she paid for hers while I was still getting mine scooped. The person who made my cone just handed it too me and went to help the next customer. I walked over and stood in front of the cash register and stood there for about 15 seconds or so until a staff member stopped, looked at me, then immediately turned to the next customer to help him. I then slowly walked out of the store without turning my back to the staff, stopped at the door, realized no one in the store had any clue as to what just happened, so I left the store and had a good laugh about it while enjoying a tasty ice cream cone. It was classic.

have some self respect and pay for it, its going to be hard and if i were id punch myself over it after, but id also know its the right thing. karmas a bitch, and if you want to enjoy those skis for a while, id pay for them.

Unless you're a manager I don't think you can just choose to give stuff away for free. You probably wouldn't hold onto your job for long..

But yeah, you did the right thing. Small shops need all the support they can get

I work at a local ice cream shop, and I could see how that would happen. Unless it's super crowded, sometimes one person will take orders while the other rings them up. probably wasnt a huge deal to get away with one cone, if I realized I forgot to charge after I might feel stupid but wouldn't freak out over it or run after you screaming hahaha.

if i worked at the shop i would have givin you the bindings for free. for being honest.


my friend got like 30 bucks extra back at my local shop, he gave it back to them and my other kind of friend that work there gave him a brand new armada hoodie for free. Which was way more than the thirty bucks.


I could steal all of their crowbars because i know where the keys are hidden and the case is right by the door and i could just walk out. but that would be super dick. And they hook me up all the time
