Im having trouble getting good at jumps. Rails are easy to progress cause you can just hike a flat rail or a box for as long as you want. I was wondering what the best way of progressing on jumps cause you can only hike a jump line for a small amount of time before your lungs can't take it anymore.
personally, i think hiking anything makes me want to get a new trick so much more. but hot laps are what most people like. loud music, and skiing by yourself work too. and full tilt to stop shinbang lol.
i would guess hit the next biggest jump in yur park. or if yur talking trick wise. do like 360, then 540, then 720. then throw a grab into yur 360...and so on. jumps scare the fuck outta me. i dont even hit the big ones, cuz i always seem to panic whenever i try to hit them, but the feeling is awesome. just like floating in the air.
the best way to progress would be to get some balls, hit the jump, throw your arms to the left ( or right ) 7 that shit and then bang bang bang then try a 9 the next week
you know what i do to stop shinbang.. and it sounds really weird, i know..
but i keep my boots on the most loose setting available.. extremely comfortable actually, and doesnt even hurt when i do butters
i find jumps way easier for me, maybe just because i didn't grow up with a whole lot of rail experience but jumps are definitely easier for me. tramps help a TON with the whole pop set grab sensation. just keep skiing youll get there dont even worry about it. learning how to pop correctly can work wonders too.
I did that 4 weeks ago, loosened up my boots cos they were hurting, hit a jump, overshot the landing, dropped about 10ft to flat, broke my big toe, sucks, should be back out again soon tho....
i actually have dalbellos lol, what i do is tighten the whole boot except for the top buckle, then use a booster strap on the top and tighten that down as much as possible. i can butter a whole run and be fine.. but its not like i never feel it. casing a jump yesterday i got mad bang, but you can stop that by not casing.
ya true wearing your boots loose doesnt seem to bother me either! as far as jumps go- confidence is key, if your super nervous and dont feel confident, your most likley not going to stomp it, miracles do happen though.....lol Do what you feel like you can do but at some point your going to have to try something you dont want too! but it will totally be worth it and you'll feel like you can do anything
i would imagine you prefer rails over jumps. i did that for a while last season, but when i started hitting bigger jumps i almost slipped out of my boots when landing switch.
