yeahh man im pissed that we didn't have the privilege to watch the replays in megamo.
those 300 frames per second would negate a lot of challenges and save a buttload of timeouts.

so i was rooting for the cards all the way...but i really don't care that they lost that super bowl was so good...both teams fucked them selves with penalties....harrisons int for a touchdown was sweet, but i hate him for being a cheap ass and punching that guy on the ground for no reason at all, such a poor sport...larry fitz is still the man...but that catch by holmes at the end of the game was so sweet...so far the past 2 years superbowls have not dissapointed.

some of the penalities in the game were bs. i was rooting for the cards but the steelers deserved to win that one

I think there were stupid petty calls both way..... but the cardinals got the worst of them. I also think the refs had to not give Ben that first TD cause everyone and their mother would complain because its like what happened in the last superbowl.

I just get angry when people say dumb things like, ohh this should have happened and that shouldnt have. I got quite angry when someone tried telling me that Harrison didnt make it in, there is no evidence in the world that could prove he was down.

in any game of football there will be BS penalties, the question of how well the game was officiated does not rely on that factor alone... this game was called pretty even IMO (maybe a slight advantage to the steelers), but both teams were victim to BS calls.

it doesn't matter if the ball hits the ground as long as the receiver has possession. If the receiver uses the ground to help gain possession then it is INCOMPLETE, but if the receiver has possession of the ball and it proceeds to hit the ground (and the receiver maintains possession) then it is a COMPLETION.

its a pretty tricky rule to understand, it was changed a while back when a receiver made a reception in the Superbowl where he CLEARLY had made the catch, and (similar to fitz catch) the ball touched the ground, and was ruled an incompletion. They changed the rule the next year. I wish i could remember that receivers name, he's pretty well known for it...

that does not matter one bit. if you have possession of the ball and the ball crosses the plane of the endzone, its a td no matter what. just like a couple weeks ago when larry dove into the pylon vs carolina. yeah the ball hit the ground, but he had possession while the ball broke the plane. same with catching the ball in the endzone. as soon as you have 2 feet down and possession then its a ts

actually im pretty sure they changed the ruling this year on what happened. if you are hit by a player on the other team while extending the ball over the goal line if you drop it no matter if it bounces off the ground or not it should be ruled an incomplete pass. you have to come up with possession no matter what. the only reason i know this is because this exact same thing happened to the steelers a week or 2 ago. either way it doesnt matter the steelers won.

in order to have possession though you need to maintain control of the ball all the way to the ground. If you catch the ball in the endzone and then as you're falling to the ground drop it, its incomplete. So when falling to the ground the receiver needs to maintain possession, it's not ruled a TD the instant he catches it.

ya but if you are TOUCHED, by the opposing team player and have to hold the ball even when you hit the ground. if you hit the ground and the ball comes loose it should not be a complete pass and it doesnt matter if it hit the ground in the endzone or not.

great great game, i didnt read this thread to avoid the millions of people who are arguing for their teams right for victory, in the end it was one of the best super bowls i have ever watched (right below the pats 3), the one thing i found surprising from that game was the holding in the endzone = safety, i never knew that rule in football

couple quick things about the sb that i saw on espn today

kurt warner "fumbled" the ball at around the pittsburgh 45 at the end of the game. it was a clear incompletion, i have no idea why the refs didnt even look at it in the booth. the same thing happened with tony romo against the cards and it was an incomplete. at the end of the "fumble" play there was an unnecessary roughness of pittsburgh. + 15 yds. then if you take santonio holme's td celebration which was the most obvious use of the ball as a prop, thats another 15 yards

this means the cards couldve had the ball at the pittsburgh 15, and with larry, thats better than a good chance of winning

hats off to the steelers though

yeah it definitely was an incomplete pass, but if you add 30 yards on to the beginning of the drive, the plays would've been called completely differently. so you don't know for sure what would've happened. i know i didn't celebrate till that clock reached 0...you never know with fitzgerald.

its not calling the game differently. you can call a hold or not a hold. thats calling the game differently. but when santonio holmes clearly uses the ball as a prop thats not a judgment call. and when a steeler clearly decks a cardinal after the play is over, thats not judgment either. when kurt warner clearly has the ball in his hand and his arm is moving forward, the ref should have at least taken a look upstairs in the booth. it was ridiculous that on a play that meant the superbowl they didnt even look at it

lol jk, i really hoped the cards would have won because they hadnt even made the playoffs for what was it 20 years??? but i dont care, i dont hate the steelers, cause they are AFC so it was a win win situation for me...

the cardinal defense is to blame for the loss in my eyes, i mean all they had to do was keep big ben on his side of the field for 90 seconds.... and well obviously they couldnt do it....

it was def one of the best superbowls, even football games ive ever seen. i thought mvp coulda gone either way, but ben sure did a hell of a job avoiding the cards quick pass rush and making plays. hats off to him and the "stillers"

me and my bro were watching it (over here it was scheduled between 0:30 and 4:00 am). were no die-hard football fans, but it was a great game and we were routing for the cards all the way (just because their kinda "fresher", more dynamic and stuff, the steelers are more like conservative and so on imo)

we actually woke up half the house when fitz made that play that might shoudve been the game-winner. but it was ok, although i have the impression that the steelers always had this 1/2 plays in every play-off game where they just were the luckier guys in order to give them the win. its not undeserved, dont get me wrong, but they surely had 4-5 D plays in the playoffs that were quite lucky

and btw, why the hell didnt the booth reviewed that last fumble? i mean, what can you lose? literally nothing, and they still didnt do it... of course a cards td was improbable, but you never know, a high bomb into the endzone, maybe a interference or whatever. it shouldnt be "how probable is the td anyways" in this case. in a superbowl the booth probably should review almost every fumble.

dude im not retarded at all i have actually played football almost my entire life, unlike a 105lb little boy like yourself who would cry like a little pussy like you are right now if shit doesnt go the way of your team. in the super bowl if you have ever watched one before you would know that people are never penalized for using the ball as a prop. kurt warners arm yes was going forward but not with the ball in it if you watch it again. when you throw a football your elbow comes forward first so that you can then sling your forearm forward and throw the ball. his elbow moved into his body the ball was grabbed and then he released through the arm forward. now if you listened to the game and actually watched it you would know that they did look at it in the booth and called it an incomplete pass. here listen you can hear them say it at the very end. sorry little boy stop your pussy ass crying.

the refs reviewed it after anyways and it wasnt turned over, they are honest about that shit. the steelers had two bullshit calls against them in the afc championship against the colts a few years ago and the head ref appologized the next day and said the calls were incorrect, but nothing could be done now anyways.

its over with.

the biggest problem with the whole forward pass vs. fumble rule is the ambiguity of when the quarterback has possession.

To be completely honest, i have no idea why they didn't at least review the last play of the game.  But in my opinion, that was a fumble.  Harrison makes contact with kurt warner's arm at the apex of his throwing motion, and he begins to lose control as he moves his arm forward.  Just because his hand is touching the ball and it is being pushed forward doesn't mean it's a controled forward pass.

In all honesty... during a play like that, who's to say that the QB didn't intent on a pump fake or was eventually going to stop his motion and tuck the ball away.  Personally, the problem will never be resolved, but I feel like the defense doesn't get the credit, where the credit is due.  Anytime the "forward pass" isn't "natural" or doesn't break the line of scrimmage in the air it should be a fumble.  I dont understand how something can be an "intended forward pass" when it leaves the QB's hand like a flopping duck and doesn't land 5-10 yards within an eligable recieve.  The QB should have to maintain control through his throwing motion.

In the same respect I hate the rule that the QB can just throw away the ball once he leaves the pocket.  Intentional grounding should be applied on any pass.
