skiboarding is definatly the most expensive because u will have to buy 2 boards to be skiing with

dam! i have these skiis in my garage that are older then jesus himself... i dont know any of the size crap though. i weigh 135/5'8-5'7 what size should i try?

in my opinion, when i used to buy skis, they would cost me a lot, but there are ways to keep your spending down

1. buy last years shit...it's still good, you don't need brand new shit every year, its a waste of money

2. try and find deals on ebay/craigslist, lots of reps/pros sell their demo/prototypes that way

3. take care of your shit, dont ski down the road to the parking lot to try and look cool


I would say that full price you're gonna spend about 700-800$ whether it be a board or some skis, thats if you find deals of course

snowboard bindings are less expensive, but they dont last as long

boards and skis cost sort of the same(boards are a bit less if you go for the cheap stuff)they last as long as you use them, so if you hit rails a lot, dont expect your skis to go longer than 2 seasons, if that(there are exceptions)

i had a pair of elans back in the day that lasted me like 5 seasons, and i was skiing them 25+ days a season, but i took care of them, thats why they lasted

If the ones in your garage are straight, dont bother.  Just buy a pair of twin tips, lightly used or last years model, and it'll be the best thing you ever did with your life

Alright, as a new skier, i would say like 165cm should be the highest you go. dont bother with the skis in your garage if they are as old as you make them sound, skis from like 10 years ago have changed a ton

you could rent a couple times and see if you like it? thats what a friend of mine is doing, hes boarded for ever, but he thinks skiing looks cool and all and wants to try it.

you also dont have to spend to much. i have a big ski swap near me at a local store, people sell used stuff and the store also sells some of their old inventory. So you could find brand new boots from the store for like $150 or some used boots for 50, and you could find some deals too. and there was a pair of old Line skis with nice bindings, i mean they were beaten up, but you could have on them and they were like $200.

go for it man! i love when people try skiing out. just make sure you learn some skiing etiquette.

look for something in between 170-180cm

ya man just go out find some good deals on some twins from last year. its not as expensive as it seems if you factor in how long they last.

Damn my skis with bindings only cost $105, they had three light seasons on them and will get about 2 hard seasons out of them, so their are really good deals out their.

alright thanks. got some good feedback from you guys except the kid who put the 200 210 crap... but thanks. sounds uber expensive though... might just have to wait till next season.
