Next year's Armada outerware.

I was just looking a the "what do you think of this picture" thread and how many people want more ski outerware companies to step up.  In the Zach D article on the front page he hints at some new big things happening with armada next year.  Following this statement is a pic of him wearing some of what I would think is next year's Armada outerware.  I also saw someone at big sky rocking some of the same gear.  I really hope Armada plans to continue to build thier brand and launch a full line of outerware next season.  I think skiing is ready for more outerware companies and overall I really like Armada as a company.  Companies like Saga are sick but kinda spendy.  I would like to see Armada make some nice stuff across all price points to appeal to all skiers.  Any thoughts or info on the subject?

As a side note I think it is important to think about where your money is going when you purchase something.  When you purchase some outerware form a snowboard brand some of that money is going into supporting snowboard pros and snowboard movies etc etc.  Not that I hold anything aginst skiers that rock snowboard stuff I would just like to see skiers supporting our companies or companies that support both industries.

They plan to make their clothes out of paper mache.

It'll be alot cheaper to buy.

i'm interested to see who will be riding for them.

but it's nice when companies you trust expand because you feel like you can get reliable products from them. thing is i think some companies sometimes put too much effort in going big and then skimp on quality. core companies that put all their time into one thing (i.e. goggles) are sick because you know all their time and effort is put into making that one product as sick as possible.

i have high hopes for the armada line, the ad i saw looked pretty sick, but i'm not sure that i'll be the first in line to buy.

Brighter than Helly, Sessions, Oakley, Burton, everyone else who has made bright clothing.

thats just weird. i get really tired of super bright outerwear. i mean, i like it and all, but its just not what i want to wear all season.

it would be so good for filming though. especially on really flat light days.

Its super super nice stuff. Very bright. The fit is awesome. Some of it is fairly expensive. There are a few pieces that are very very expensive, but it is all top quality stuff. They are doing it right.

They are using event for some of the cloths in a 2 and 3 ply. This stuff is awesome because it is super breathable and super waterproof, and the waterproofing doesnt wear off when you wash it. its guaranteed for life. The other fabric they are using is MegaRex which is also extremely sick and it has 15k waterprook 10k breathable and 10k 10k

I was up in Canadialand skiing with Hans and Chris from Armada. They and some friends had on the new outerwear. Looks pretty tech with fully taped seems and good waterproofing. Should be interesting to see what they do.

I've got the feeling that Armada is going to be "our Burton". They seem to make way more kinds of stuff than just skis. Besides that they have the "cool image". Chances are big I'm wrong but it was just a thought...

Wow.

No Armada is NOT Burton in any way, shape, or form.

Salomon or K2 are the Burtons of skiing. Salomon has been for a long time. Shit quality stuff, mass produced, boots bindings skis outerwear, etc. Only thing I trust from them is their bindings, what they started with.

They high end stuff will have eVent fabric, which from studies show it better than Gore Tex XCR and North Face HyVent DT in both breathability and waterproof.

So prob like 25,000 + mm of H2O and the same if not more for breathability.

And the line is all not loud, there will be solid and mute colors from what I've seen

eVent isn't more waterproof than gore, but apparently it's so much more breathable that the tradeoff is worth it.
But yeah, I saw that one jacket that Zach D had on, I think in the second picture in the article, that was black and had the waterproof zippers. If they made them in other colors, I'd buy it. Hell that black one even looks sick.

No it isn't.  Airblaster is, but this outerwear isn't ridiculous in person.  Have you ever seen it..?  Looks good.

I think that is kinda right and kinda wrong.

I think Armada is like burton in the way that Armada was the first completely "newschool" skiing brand.  Yes line is older but they also made carving skis that were not twins and skiboards.  Nothing against line I love em but Armada has the title of first completely "newschool" ski brand.  Armada is also similar to burton it that they are the flagship of newschool skiing these days as burton is the flagship for snowboarding.  I think thats kinda where it ends.  Beyond that there are lots of differences between the companies.  Such as Armada only focusing on skiing and not trashing on snowboarding.
