so i was at vail today going up a lift. i was about to get into the singles line when some bitch gaper lady in some gay ass jacket barges in front of me. I was in a good mood just listening to my ipod so i let it go. Then, the cunt takes out a cigarette and first the guy who checks the passes very nicely asks her to put out the cigarette but she just keeps going. Then, the liftie asks her nicely again to put it out because its a national park rule that you cant smoke it in (vail is a national park) and just ignores him. So finally im on the lift behind her and i still see her blowing smoke out so by the time im at the top i say "put ur fucking cigarette out you bitch" and then she just looks at me and skis away. Sorry just pissed me off

give it a rest you are outdoors,  your outerwear is not gonna smell like cigs from someone smoking on the chair in front of you,  it is just you being a whiney little biatch

grow up, people smoke,  and guess what smoking a cig on the chairlift between runs is fucking awesome,   people will always do this and have every fucking right to smoke outdoors,

I don't even know where to start with this.  First of all the emissions from snow cats aren't even in the same ball park as cigarette smoke as far as amount of pollutants.  Second, only the people that take part in skiing/snowboarding have to put up with the dreaded snow cat emissions unlike cigarette smokers who's smoke effects everybody around them regardless if they smoke or not.  (I know what your gonna say, 'it still pollutes the environment for everybody' but that's not what I'm talking about, I'm talking about getting physical smoke blown into my face.)  And its not like im in the lift line with a snow cat or skiing behind one, they are pretty much are out of the way. You can call me ignorant all you want at least im not the one who accepts breathing in absolute shit just because a few people feel the need to smoke.

im not saying you have to accept breathing smoke in, just end your life. that way you wont have to deal with anything harmful. you will not inhale much smoke sitting a chair away from a smoker, chill out

smoking on plane=bad

smoking in elevator=bad

smoking on top of a 9000ft mtn with a 15mph wind=who gives a shit

some of you people probably say that you shouldnt be able to smoke in you car because it is a distraction.  I know they tried to pass this law in VT last year.  I dont tell you not to fart around me and that stinks way worse in my opinion.  As long as you dont throw the butt on the ground when you are done keep on puffing.

I used to smoke, like half pack to a pack a day, but I always respected no smoking signs. If the point of your cig is to relax, there's nothing that is a worse buzzkill than some bitch coming up to you and being like "put out your cigarette!!" I don't smoke anymore though, definitely a good move. I considered myself hopelessly addicted for many years, took me two years to quit. You just have to be strong, so thats why I dont really respect people that say they can't quit or they NEED a cigarette right then and there. They just want one. If they had an ounce of will power they could wait for a more appropriate time to light up. Or they just could bit the bullet and quit.

I live and ski in NJ: the home of garbage under the lifts and snowboarders smoking on the lift/lift line.

I think its one of the worst things to do to be in a lift line or around non-smokers in any situation and start smoking.  I don't want to have to smell that shit, have my clothes smell like that, breathe in the chemicals, etc.  If you want to smoke when your alone or with other people that smoke then go ahead but I'm trying to enjoy a beautiful day of skiing, I don't want to nor should I have to breathe in your smoke.

And yea I think its also a huge dick move to smoke on the lift,  because the people behind you DO go through your smoke and have to breathe it in the whole ride with no choice.

I've been on the lift multiple times with people that just start smoking not asking me if I mind.  Most disrespectful thing ever, I always ask them politely not to smoke and they give me a dirty look but fuck them.

And that girl in the story is a bitch.

But on the real, smoking on the lift is completely legit, stop bitching. As long as they aren't throwing their butts all over the mountain. In the lift line or on the gondola or something is a different story, but as long as other people aren't being forced to inhale significant amounts of smoke it's fine. So the person behind you can smell it a little, fucking grow a pair. In this case I agree with the OP simply because I know people that dumb would not throw away their butts and it IS a national park, otherwise...

I'm not even one of the people vilifying cigarettes but here's your answer.

Weed doesn't kill people. In the entire history of medicine, no university or hospital has recorded even a single death resulting from marijuana worldwide. Ever. Cigarettes kill 430,000 people in the US alone each year.

o Doritos, i would like a link to almost half a million cig deaths just in the US... to also say weed has never killed anyone, there is ALWAYS and exception to the rule.. what about the stoner who gets high and decides to go do something he would not otherwise do... i think we're treading on thin water to say weed has NEVER killed...

I don't believe I ever said marijuana fights toe cancer. I also don't believe I said THC is a foolproof cure for cancer, just that it helps, and it just so happens to help more than any other known treatment aside from radiation and chemo, both of which are absolutely devastating to your body. THC is good because it only targets and kills dead and dying cells that may later become cancerous, unlike the other two I mentioned which kill everything... something you'd know if you actually read my links. Which you clearly didn't. Which makes you even more of a dumbass, if that's possible. Congrats.

Well, I've been up 22 times this year. I've been up 50+ times every year for the past 17 years. I'm getting a 3.67 at UVM. I've had a girlfriend recently and I'm on my way to securing another. I'd say I have my priorities straight, at least I'm happy with my life. Stop being so judgmental, congrats on where you're at but that doesn't make you superior to anyone here.

I agree.  Hey man, let him smoke.  Half of what he pays for that box of cigarettes is going towards taxes.  So really, let him smoke more.  Let him be a dick and help fund for better roads and schools.  He put himself into a big losing situation.  Hey, that's also a shorter life he will live.  One less dick on our planet right?  I'm sure he's a dick because he gets treated like a dick.  But really, I think that during this generation, to start smoking you have to be a dumbass.  Just look at everything that has been proven about it.  Why would you ever start?  It's basically like saying- "I will pay thousands of dollars over time and have 10 years less of life."  If I ever was a governor, I would definitely try to raise taxes as high as I could on cigarettes.  I just hate them so much.  /rant
