so some of you may remember the thread i posted about how on my new dumonts after 10 days the edges had cracks and an edge pulled out which made the edge armor pull out the p-tex,  well  i sent them in like every one told me to and they sent them back saying they have been skied to hard and this voids the warranty, well i laughed becuase the only thing they experienced was park citys little jib park and some groomers early season. i have now also read other threads about the same thing happening to other dumonts and suspects with in a madder of 10 to 20 days of riding, and then salomon not warrantying them, i think salomon and there egde armor is a joke and people should not support comanys like these any more,

you obviously did not present your case very well at all. last eyar blew out edges on my 07 spk's, sent them in to skis.com, said they had there salomon guys check them out, and it wasnt under warranty, so i got a number to salomon, called them, got familiar with a guy, sent them in to him. he said i would probably end up getting 09 skis becuase there were out of 08 inventory, but some 08 spk's turned up at the last second and i got those. they have a legit warranty, i even mentioned the rail damage to the skis. Present it better, and things should work out. and i have been riding my 09 dumonts everyday and they are fine. same with all the kids i know with them, and suspects. they arent fucked up, they are kiler skis and there is bound to be a few deffects in some of them.

in some of them? more like everypair i have seen. i have yet to see or hear a complaint about a new salomon ski. ive seen plenty of pairs broken to. or about to break

no companies warranty rail damage that would be dumb for them to do since so many people mess up their skis doing dumb stuff. in most cases companies are only going to warranty stuff if the problem has nothing to do with how they were used and it is just a natural defect in the ski. Rails are considered abusive to the ski so companies won't warranty that stuff

well yeah except the edge damage wouldnt normally do this much damage to his skis, however since salomon is now using edge armor, a technology made to increase durability on rails, not only should they be standing behind their new technology, but it was also that new technology that did the damage to his skis and not as much the rails that he hit.

I posted this in another thread a while ago, not to get all "law" or anything, just my thoughts:

Under the United States Uniform Commericial Code, Article 2, governing the sale of goods, there is this thing called an "Implied Warranty of Fit for a Particular Purpose." (my big law book actually uses skis as an example for this) and it arises whenever:
"any seller or lessor knows the particular purpose for which a buyer or lessee will use the goods and knows that the buyer and lessee is relying on the skill and judgment of the seller or lessor to select suitable goods."

Salomon knows these skis are going to be used on rails. Mike Douglas, Sammy Carlson, Charles Gagnier, and Dumont have all said on video that with edge armour, "when you're smashing down on rails, your skis aren't blowing up." etc.... They all have said, acknowledged, and IMPLIED these skis will be used on rails and will hold up (for how long they never said). So unless they have a big clause in there warranty on skis, which they more than likely do, they're whole advertising scheme this year is worthless and they've contradicted what they're all about.

sucks about your skis, maybe contact a salomon rep from your area and see if he can do anything. i think companies like salomon, k2, ect dont want to deal with a ton of kids beating up  their skis and then bitching because they want new ones (not targeted to the thread creator, just saying in general) im on this years dumonts and have not had any problems besides normal wear and tear. overall i think salomon is a great company with great products, in my opinion one of the best in the ski industry, but thats pretty shitty service and hopefully you can work something out with them

my shop hasen't seen any problems with Salomon this year... but working with the warranty dept. in my store I can tell you that Salomon is really good about issues with their skis...

if there's a problem they really try to solve it.

That it be by repairing or by replacing it, if the ski is relatively new...
