Parabola Picture

So, for a math assignment I need to take a picture. It can pretty much be anything, and find parabolas in it and then get the equations of each parabola. There has to be at least 8 different parabolas on the picture and some should be positive(facing up) and some should be negative(facing down)

I'm pretty much stuck for ideas so I was hoping NS could help. +karma for any help at all

take some pipe cleaners (not the skis) and bend them into parabolas.

I don't know if I'd call it photography. Like the examples I've seen done are like patrick from spongebob and cartoon type things

There is a pic that I think was the background pic for NS for a while, it was in a pipe, with a big sequence shot all the way down the pipe. There would be ALOT of parabolas in that. You could get 8 with a pair of skis. tip + tail and sidecut on each side times 2 = 8.

Just take a picture of a cluttered desk or something. I'm looking at my coffee table right now, and I see:

Bowl, Spoon, CD, Phone Case, Eyeglasses, Headphones, Circular Wrapper, Sharpie Cap.

There is 8 right off the top of my head, pretty easy. Just take a pic of your desk at home or something.

Car Head Lights, the the light from the tiny bulb reflects in one directions do to the parabola

No offense but this is a very easy assignment. Parabolic skis would be a great example since you are a skier...

Psh, that's easy in almost any picture. Hell, I can find at least 8 looking at the NS picture right now. If it's a curve, you can call it a parabola. The hardest part about this is picking the right scale and number of significant figures to make the equations relevant.

if you get a pic of a halpipe with a skier sequence in it thats aready two(the pipe and the skier floating through the air)....a booter in the park with a sequence shot(the lip and the skier flying throught the air) thats all for right now

Thanks for all the help guys. The thing about this assignment is that they have to be completely parabolas and they have to be facing right side up or down because this picture is going on a graph where i have to find the equations of every parabola. Im only in grade 10, so this is why this all seems so easy for you guys.

make a pic on your computer screen that has 8 parabolas on it and then take a photo of your computer screen.
