Vancouver, BC Heli Skiing

this is one for the tgr forums, members there are older and more experienced/knowledgable on such a subject

or even the whistler/vancouver regional forum.

Im writing this post from bella-coola heli-skiing right now.  Just got out of the heli an hour ago (claim).  Its good up here.  The freezing level is really high right now, but the guides managed to find some dope zones.  WIth 20+cm of fresh, this place would be AMAZING.  the guides are super chill, they have ARG's for the guests to ride, the scenerey is spectacular, the zones are so killer.  Steep alpine, sick couloirs, tons of drops everywhere, and really fun trees at the bottom of every run.  The snowpack is sketchy in BC right now, so a lot of our runs are shorter than they'd normally be, but we are still getting 20,000 ft. vert days which is decent.  I recommend it highly.  Its a 1.5 hour flight from Vancouver. All the guides no what is up as they have guided Seth, Tanner etc. when they have been here, plus its small group heli-skiing (which is better) so you can tailor your runs to get good gnar.

Might be a bad season for it but things can change a lot from now until March. Do not other with day ops out of the resort you will ski crappy low angle stuff with tourons because the guides do not have time to properly assess you, better to save your money or spend it on a guide and just tour sidecountry out of the resort. If you go to the Pemberton op it will be better and it's a pretty close drive. If you have the real coin go to Bella Coola, Micah Creek, Tulsequah etc.

Bella Coola and Tuslequah are WAY out of the way from Vancouver. They are sweet, it's easier to get to the interior and do a heli-op out of Revelstoke or Nelson. Also, don't be so pumped on burning a hole in your pocket running up the card, the conditions aren't the best out there right now.

This was the perfect surprise trip and the memory will last forever. The guide was very nice and helpful,funny too. Never been in a helicopter before but everything was thoroughly explained. The powder runs were just the right length and difficulty. Riding through the trees really gives you a sense of exploring new terrain. Would love to do this again and can thoroughly recommend Heliskiing Whistler if I you wants to try something new after....
