New LINE ski on TV!!!

just caught the tale end of a show on the YES network talking about
Line skis and they showed some crazy new ski they have coming out...can
someone film there TV and post it or something, the show is SportsLife, NYC
on tomorrow at 7 30 I think.

don't get the YES network here. damn yankees.

you guys, we arent expert skiers. those long pointy skis, yeah, those are for expert skiers. Michelle told me so.

the planks are looking sexy. the layered ply concept looks hella sick too. im really interested now. i wanna see Lines production video on these bitches!

real sick concept. It seems like all the new constructions recently have been taken from other sports (rocker, reverse sidecut, now this skateboard like construction). I'm really interested to see how these things hold up and what kind of pop they offer. Props to Line for pushing new designs...

yeah, they didn't really get into what makes this ski function differently than others. they briefly mentioned re-enforcing the edges, but that was it.

It is in the design of the core. Typically, pieces of wood are are put together side by side, horizontally, then moulded with a top sheet and base.

Cross section of a ski:
_______   This layer is top sheet
OOOOO    this layer is wood side by side
-----------   This layer is the base material.

THe afterbang's core is designed like a skateboard, with the wood being stacked on top of one another. Such like a pad of post-it notes.
___________     This is the 1st layer of core.
___________     This is the 2nd layer of core.
___________     This is the 3rd layer of core. etc....

Now as for the edges, my guess is that the edge section underfoot is typically under your plastic sidewall (or whatever material the sidewall is made of, im not sure) This is a soft material, and will deflection under impact, causing some deflection in the steel edge. Constant stress and strain in this section will fatique the metal and cause edge blow-out. Im guessing the Afterbang's edge is attached to the wood core underfoot. Therefore the edge is attached to a stronger material that won't bend or deflect on impact.,

You edge could still crack or dull, but it won't break away. well that's my reasoning at least
