Windows 7 Beta

(kind of a rant about my opinion)

i just got the windows 7 beta from a friend yesterday and installed it on my computer, and let me say... WOW, it looks amazing, and is soo easy to use. I've only been using it for this moring so far and am yet to find anything that i don't like. Obviously finding drivers was a little bit hard but i got em to work in the end and it was well worth the struggle. I cannot wait until the final build comes out!

Nice, good news. I like my Vista but everything I've heard about 7 so far has been awesome.

It's really not that bad... just get rid of that shitty sidebar and some of the other bullshit and it barely takes up any more resources than XP. It has the potential to take up a ton of resources because it has so many features, but if you cut those away it's not bad at all. It's only as much of a system hog as you make it.

Actually if you have hardware from the past century, Vista is about the same speed as XP, see - http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,2845,2302500,00.asp

And 7 Is sick, I've been running it on my laptop for about the past 2 months! :O

7 hardly uses any recources at all, i'm running it on an old computer with 1 gig of ram and it's not slow at all

The new task bar is sooo stupid, (almost as bad of an idea as a dock....)

So your saying I have to go to a little icon, sit my cursor there, just to select what window I want to open? And I cant minimize windows from the taskbar?

Ahhh thats better, I do like the new taskbar more though, cause you can "Pin" items to it, eliminating quick launch, and you can move things around on it.

And the "Jump Lists"? when you right click on a taskbar item, are pretty cool, once more programs start using them.

This here thing, Right Click on an icon on the taskbar, and you get this.. Its kinda cool, like when your using Windows messenger, you right click on the icon, and can hit sign on, or Email Inbox and it takes you right there. Even when the program is off.

whats the date the beta expires? you do know it will expire right? also. they just rename stuff vista already has and tweak it a little. the pinned thing is just frequently used programs.. the dock is just a minimized version of the taskbar.. i just use stardock object dock and no taskbar and its simple. forget micro$$$$oft. they will just steal from all the other OSs out there anyways and charge too much for it..

The beta is good till august of 09...

And didn't Stardock steal the horribly useless "dock" idea from Apple?

And last time I checked, Apple charges for there products too....

1. good to know that new version of windows will be ready for next fall.

2.stardock isnt useless.. i prefer 1 click over 3 to get to the program i want. i can also drag to the icon on the dock with the file id like to open in that program (nice feature)

3. apple charges but more is bundled and support is much better than windows. lack of downtime and minimal viruses on mac products makes the cost worth it.

should i answer anymore of your one liners?

i found that stardock was more tailored to my needs. yes, it may use more resources but when you got ram, why not use it. its got nice flyouts and the free version works just fine for me. i havent fully tested rocketdock enough to get you an answer worthy of a full comparison of both.

Wait... you PAY for your operating systems? You factor viruses into your decision as to which one to use? You WANT more bundled with your OS? And what do you mean by downtime? My mind is officially boggled.
