The simply way to find out this answer is by trying to take a pair of ski poles onto a plane in your hands/carry-on luggage. Extra credit if you do it in an American airport.

i guess if you don't own a knife or a gun or a nightstick etc.

yeah man, last year my basket broke off and some fat fucker who thought he had way more power than his job actually entitles him to came up to me and said i can't use poles any more cuz they could be weapons, like stab people and shit..

once my dog was sniffing around some guys trash when we were at the cabin and he came back with an impailation on his side i think it was a ski pole cause i saw a little trail of blood from the guys house to mine and a ski pole with a little bit of blood on it laying by the door...i wanted to curbstomp with my ski boots on but instead ive been egging and tp-ing his house then leaving by post party garbage bags in his lawn he's an asshole

there was a bunch of snowboarding standing near a drop and for whatever reason some of them thought it'd be good to stand 2ft away from the rail next it. eitherway i dropped to hit it regardless, a couple of them watched me go in and didn't move, i dropped one of my skis to avoid them and as i 2'd off basically impaled one of them with my pole.. i'm sure they won't stand there anymore

a bunch of years ago back in Ontario I had a ski patroler come up to me once telling me that my poles were weapons 'cause the baskets broke off. He tried to kick me off the hill until I fixed my poles. I laughed.

i lost a basket on one run and the lifite would not let me get on the chair because i coudl harm some one with my pole.... its considered a weapon she said..... so i just skied over to the next lift

true story:  in fifth grade we went cross country skiing as a field trip. one kid tripped and fell and swong his pole wildly as he fell.  It hit another kid in the head and caused a shallow cut that nonetheless bled a ton.   It was disgustingly awesome
