My big money-making idea

So I've been getting into waxing my own skis, and of course along with that comes doing it for my friends. I'll charge different amounts depending on how much I like the person and if I'm doing it to repay them for something. But I really like doing it and don't get to do it that often. So my idea is to make kind of my own quick waxing business. I'm in university, and I have a pickup truck, so I could either have people just drop their stuff of at my place and have it done in like 30 min or less, or drive to their place and just clamp their skis or board to the tailgate and do it right there. Do you think anybody would like this? Obviously prices would be a little less than christy's, or the same if I had to drive to their place.

good idea. thing is... the people that go to get their skis waxed at the shop are probably newbs and don't mind paying the extra coin for a "professional" job. its worth a shot though what do you have to lose ?

good point on the noob thing. I'm hoping there will be more people interested because I am at university and money is tight for a lot of snowriders, plus a lot of freshmen in the dorms can't get to a shop easily, so I would have the advantage of getting to them, and the whole word of mouth advertising thing.

word, but it would be so legit if you had like a utility van that you could just pimp the back of with stuff, i mean, it might be a little sketch since you couldnt stand upright, but i bet itd be fine... such a legit idea haha.

yeah, should work, my friends are always asking me to wax their skis/boards. I just ask for like $3 to offset the cost of the wax though.

good concept but waxing cant be done outside, the pores on your ski base would not open in the cold, you would need a ski oven and even then their still expsed to cold before their done. its got some kinks to work out but legit idea for sure.

You can totally wax outside. It's not ideal, but can certainly be done.

yes it CAN be done but will it do anything, not much. for a ski to be well waxed it has to be absorbed into the pores, if its cold ( just like in your peener) the pores shrink and close. this makes your johny smaller but also stops your skis from absorbing the wax so most of it stays on top of the ski and gets scraped off.
