Right.
One thing i really hate is the attitude of so-called snowboarders towards us, skiiers. I dunno what it is like for you guys the other side of the atlantic but over here in europe snowboarding is very much the 'cool' sport to be in to.
Dont get me wrong, i like it like that - one of the attractions of new school skiing is its 'fringe' status and we are still very much a novelty. I mean i could quite easily have taken up boarding, enjoyed progressing at it and shit, but i chose to ski.
Back to the point. Every recreational snowboarder in the Uk and most of europe seem to think skiing is the preserve of rich bastards, french one-piece wearers, old farts. Even though they have been snowboarding for one week because they played ssx and it looked cool they think they are 'core' and fucking 'street', and that in order to stay cool they should refer to skiiers as sk*ers on the web (check www.goneboarding.co.uk) and slate us.
well i say fuck that. Everytime you see a bunch of snowboarders, pop a 180. then pop a switch 180 back again. manual your ass off and make sure they see. Let the general population know that we are here, cos believe me, most of them dont.
This isnt another 'i hate snowboarding' thread. i like snowboarders, some of my best mates are snowboarders, i ride with them everyday im on the hill. Its the holiday makers, the tourists and the wankers who need teaching. Make some jaws drop, we are here, we are staying, and we need to be seen.
thanks - let the flaming begin...
