thats a little extreme. it could very well happen, but not for at least 20 years IMO. and i dont think it would split up like that, that would be ridiculous if the east joined the EU and canada controlled the midwest.

id hope he isnt right about russia controlling alaska...i dont want those damn reds on north american land

alaska is full of crazy mother fuckers who would come out of the woodwork. many people around these parts have stockpiles of guns and ammo. i highly doubt alaska will let russia control our shit. let them come over the bering straight, they will still have a very long way to go before they reach anywhere heavily populated. even in general, if the US collapses, people will not be down with other countries coming in and claiming that shit.

Have you guys ever read russian media though? It's unbelievably anti-west. If some professor predicts the downfall of the US ofcourse the media will jerk off to whatever he has to say.

Another big difference between the US and the soviet union collapsing, is that a lot of the people in the eastern block generally didn't like being communist. They didn't like being so repressed.

Most people in the US know theyre fortunate and would hate for the US to break up.

The whole, US splitting up in 2010 isn't overly farfetched. When you consider the state of the economy, which in a capitalistic society is the main objective of a country, is almost 11 trillion dollars in debt. The well to do states, or rather states that aren't suffering so bad will only want to support states with nothing for so long. There are also giant ideological differences across the united states (ex. Maine vs. Texas or even North Vs South). The United states, as Canada, simply take up too much landmass with people spread out too far to try and fit all people into their current systems.
Obama did promise change...
