Wider Boxes = Harder?

I'm not sure if this is just me but it seems like the wider the box I slide the harder it is to set spins and what not. Anybody else feel the same way?

its because you cant use you edges as much on a wider box.

Some how on the 2 footer at my hill I am able to always be on the skiers left side of the box. I learned my first pretzel on it the other day.

front side spins off a box aren't too hard, i find it harder to 90 on than the actual spin, half the time i end up coming basically straight on since im trying to get that front foot's edge out in front. just throw the front foot out and lock the edge in. For me it's definitely easier to bs 270 out on a rail than a box, front foot leaning down to edge onto a box doesnt really seem to get my rotation going much

No it's possible, you just have to be on the right side of the box for your back side too sev.

EX:

I'm right foot forward so i would be on the left side of the box to back side too sev and would grip with my right leading foot, pushing my toes down raising the tail of that ski, creating a bs 27 mtoion

Urban on and slide to the opp side of the box to get locked.

EX: I am left foot forward, so I urban on from the left side of the box which makes me slide to the right side.  I then drop my right/rear tip and push off hard for the frontside spin out.  I find it just as easy as spinning off rails

yea its harder if you slide it in the direct middle.. but if ur right foot forward then if you slide it on the right side its easy to spin out

yea I am not a fan of wide boxes they just aren't as clean a skinnier ones are....my preference for boxes are a foot wide no wider than a foot and a half.....I am not entirely sure what they are called but I love rails that have a box type material in the middle with the metal as the coping on the outside they are usually like 5-6 in wide..so sick I cant find any pictures of it though...anyone got any I refer to them as skinny boxes with a lack of a better term

you cant set, or dig an edge on wide boxes. making it much harder to spin out.

ya cept for compton did a three swithup on that...but if you slide normally and then try to spin then yes it is harder, but if you spin on it like a butterbox then no its not so if you 2 on you just keep spinning and you spin of faster.

bs 2s shouldnt be hard. fs 2s yes. bs 270s just carry the momentum from your 90 on. no scissoring needed

sort of...I remember hitting a sick one in Park City's terrain park awhile back, i dont remember the name of which park it was but it was the one that had the superpipe located on it, but yea i remember they had a FDF skinny box...here is a picture of one I finally found one
