I'm kinda new to hucking cliffs this year since im from the East and now live in Utah, but anyways when I go to huck the cliff I for some reason look all awkward and off balance. Can someone give me some tips?
Point it off the top, chill in the air, stomp it, afterbang...
but for real, when landing in powder you need to keep your nose up so you don't faceplant. So lean back a bit, and suck up the landing with your legs. Oh and if it's real big, visualize what you are about to do before you do it
when i huck i like to come in sorta compressed with my hands near my knees, I pop. then i suck my knees back up. then i decompress and lay down the landing gear.
Looks like you are too stiff. Make sure you take off totally centered. Also try tucking your legs up some when you huck. Not to contradict what the guy above said, but don't lean too far back (you can destroy your legs if you're too far in the backseat). What skis are you using?
yea make sure you either try to grab or just suck your legs up and keep them together while in the air and then stretch your legs back out when your about to land and keep your weight back
keep your hands out in front and kinda crouch a little, if landing in powder
keep your tips up, like said before, so you dont faceplant. this isnt me, its a friend
Be confident, don't just jump off a cliff and hope to land nice, make it happen. Jump to a specific point not a general area. hands in front level your skis to your landing, you will keep your tips up naturally.
Popping is one of the most important things to keeping your balance in the air. It gives you more control as to where you're going to land and how your body needs to be positioned to land depending on the snow quality. It seems a little counter-intuitive, especially off cliffs, but it'll make a big difference.
yeah, I've just been dropping off random cliffs or small drops here on the east coast. nothing too major obviously, but anyway I'm not normally landing in powder so I always try to throw my hands forward and stay centered all throughout the drop. landing back seat sucks so bad for your shins. I've been kind of copying the pros techniques, trying to be in the same position as they are in the air. it works well, try to imitate in a way.
