i live in canada and i don't really even know what boxing day is... i think its just when theres sales in the stores and stuff.. and most ppl. get off work so its kinda just an extended christmas.. i guess

boxing day is just the day after christmas when everything is hella cheap. someone told me it's called boxing day because you take all of the boxes your presents came in to the recycling depot. but yeah, it's basically just a mad-crazy day of sales...

Ok, its an english thing because household servants used to have to work on Christmas. The day AFTER christmas their masters would give them a box with gifts and bonuses and such and they got the day off to spend with their families. Also, boxing day isn't officially always on the 26th, it's the first WEEKday after christmas, so if christmas is on friday or saturday boxing day is on monday.
