Replying to Getting inauguration day off

My school decided to delay exams after mlk day because of inauguration day. Most of my teachers literally told me to go skiing that day(we still technically have school). Anyone else experienced this? I'm not bitching about it because its pretty sweet that day doesn't matter in school but why all the hype? I know its the first black dude to walk up there and enter that office but I don't recall any other president receiving such hype or america stopping so much just for an inauguration.
