Mad Cow Disease

It's now been discovered in Washington, and they think this is just the start of what they'll be discovering. They believe that it may have been in the U.S. for a while now. And I ate beef last night. Mmmmmmmm...death.

i help manage a burger restaurant in seattle, the corporate office gave us this big offical statement to read in case anyone asks.
Our sales are gonna take a huge hit, which really sucks because i am really close to bonusing for the quarter


Dont get gloves though, gloves are out. just use a cigarette to keep your hands warm.

So the tables have turned... they blockkade Canada for the same thing. The difference: THE CANADIAN SYSTEM WORKS! When the alberta cow was tested, they separated it from the rest of them and didn't sell it. In other words nobody ate the diseased meat. But not this time...Now what's that farmer thinking? 'Hmmm... that cow is too sick to stand. Better slaughter it before it dies.'
So anyways, looks like Canadian imports of US beef are about to stop. Or they probably should at least, if there's bad meat in circulation. Karma's a bitch.

International beef sales are too going to take a huge hit. Japan and South Korea have already discussed stopping the shipments of meat coming from the US. If other countries follow this will surely affect beef farmers as well as prices. On positive outlook for us as consumers is the price of beef will surely drop, meaning cheaper steaks. The downfall is that this will probably put some farmers out of jobs and after this blows over beef prices will skyrocket.

There was the whole mad cow scare years back when it was discovered in the UK. Oprah Winfrey was put on trial in my hometown because she made a comment about Mad Cow Disease in the US which affected beef prices, so she got sued. Kind of ironic now.

I love how the media whips everyone into a frenzy of fear and ignorance. Your odds of getting ill are slim to none, and yes, you have to eat the brain or spinal tissue to have any complications. Keep eating Canadian beef.

I love how the U.S. makes no big panic about the mad cow when it is in their own country. When Canada had an isolated case (which was from a montana farm originally) the US went fukin apeshit, blocking all shipment of good beef to the US. I highly doubt canada will block trade with the U.S. Even though we do not need the beef.

Actually, I'm pretty sure Canada did block trade. I know for sure that Australia and a few other places did.

seriously, the media blows everything way out of proportion. If youve ever seen Bowling for Columbine you know what I mean.

Big deal, one case, and everyones acting like its doomsday and were all gonna die. I read here that one christmas people actually threw out the roasts in their ovens and ate other stuff, its rediculous

I think I just heard em say on the news that the cow that had it was from a herd origianally in Alberta. And you only get mad cow if you eat ground beef, or hot dogs and such. When they process the meat they sometimes snag peices from the spinal area. Cuts of meat are ok.
