hopefully i did this right but i think it is something a lot of people will like to hear cause i think everyone has their opinion on hip hop and it is nice to hear someone who actually knows what they are talking about...

T pain killed it along with akon because they lure good rappers into a den and trap them so they cant make good music anymore. Then they take every rapper who is mainstream and make a gay ass song with them. Biggie and Pac are in that den! They arent dead!

i think it goes back to 50 cent. maybe Lil Jon and the Eastside Boyz. dig in the crates and maybe you'd say it was like as soon as Anthrax and Public Enemy got together.

but in reality, in all genres there have been sell outs and fakes since music has been recorded. its just the bandwagon of commercialization of hip hop was so big, it feels like the art is dead and gone.

No no no.. record companies killed hip-hop by making it nearly impossible to clear samples and by forcing artists to pay heavy royalties for them. It was born with samples, and will die with samples.

I look at this from another angle, I don't think that hip hop has died yet. It all really depends on the eye of the beholder. I think that rap and hip hop have progressively evolved from what it was back in the day. Look at it like this, if a cat came out with a song that sounded similar to what Biggy, or Grandmaster Flash, or Heavy D sounded like, he would get ripped apart and get called "a fake". So there is always pressure to evolve and come up with something new. If these new MCs kept coming out with G-funk sounding songs or rhymes like that of Nas or any other well-known rapper, they would not sell records or have any success. In my opinion, Lil Wayne has opened the door to a whole new type of rap, but he is constantly bashed for being his own person. So, I guess what I am trying to say NS is that rap nowadays cannot be compared to rap of the past, hip hop will continue to evolve and new genres and styles will always emerge, whether you like it or not.

Rappers Delight is the best song til the end of time

Rap has just changed its focus point over the years

There are many true OGs that produce music

Ill take Nas, Tupac, Biggie and those guys over t-pain but for some reason im drawn to lil wayne

there is still good music being put out now, t-pain is blown out of proportion and overplayed over them

personally i hate 50 i think he kicked everyone with talent (game and Buck) out of G-unit leaving lloyd and yayo which i think both of them are joke rappers with nothing for them i think 50 can drop sommmmmmeee good stuff but other than that they have no talent i think lil jon was the beggining of the end for hip hop... but i still like his stuff and they bang really hard...

when people realized the money making potential of hip hop, it began collapsing from the inside out.

and to [wh@], you couldnt be more wrong. public enemy and anthrax was SOO hip hop, because it was simply pushing the bar and being innovative. same thing with run DMC and Aerosmith...except that song sucks. aerosmith is a bunch of scrawny bitches.

nobodys said the radio yet? and recording companies. when there is a good mainstream song, the radio just rapes it until no one cares anymore, and their sick of it. maybe they didnt kill it, but they sure as hell helped the death

Hip Hop isn't dead, far from it. It's just that most of the great artists don't make it to MTV, or if they do, they quit being good because they know they don't have to be any more.
If you think hip hop is dead, you're not listening to the right stations, and you're shopping for albums in the wrong stores.

Just as a side comment no need for hate on lil wayne or 50, they are both amazing artists and anyone who says otherwise doesn't know anything about rap. The people who are "killing" hip hop are people like bow wow, lil john, soulja boi and all "ringtone" rap. Hip Hop will never die, most of the good artists just arn't what the mainstream is looking for, which says a lot about the entire situation. The single most importnant person in the "death" of hip hop is not a singular person, rather its the people who listen to it and buy soulja boi and all the other no talent trash that is thrown onto the mainstream

it isnt dead, and wont die for a long time. it still survives in the underground. but yea mainstream well-known hip hop is pretty much dead, the only thing good to come of it in the last 5 years is lupe fiasco IMO

there is for sure still sick hip hop and rap being produced. if you look in the right places. its still the only thing i listen too haha even with some of the shitty mainstream stuff that is being put out. although me personally i dont think weezy fits under that category cause i think he is sick, but everyone has their own opinion. but there is plenty of sick beats and rhymes being put out.

hip hop isn't dead. its just going through the same old cycle that rock and roll went through years ago. led zeppelin, the beatles, they were all amazing and it was all on the radio. now looks whats on the radio, the jonas brothers. but rock isn't dead because theres a lot of good indie artists out there that don't really get airtime, but make some of the best songs ever. theres gold in every genre of music, you just gotta dig deep and find it.

lil wayne def killed it... lets be realistic it gave everybody the chance to say they listen to real rap when lil wayne changed the game.

except for the fact that lil wayne is one of the worst artists ive ever seen in my entire life.

theres still some good shit but u gotta look hard for it. i dont even try and listen to whats out now i just listen to whats good from before
